hows this for a spool up device

I was thinking about how to make a huge turbo spool faster without having a strait through exhaust that can me heard from miles away. Well I thought of getting a Tail wastegate with a 2lb spring. Route it into the dp right after the turbo. Connect the boost reference line to the IC piping right after the turbo. This should open up the wastegate right when you go WOT and would pretty much flow better than exhaust you could get. It would be loud as hell but if you have an open wastegate anyways it shouldn't matter and would only open up at WOT.

BMW also has a device sort of like this but works off vacuum. The valve is closed when there is vacuum and then opens up when there isn't. This device is made for the 3 series 2001 and up I believe. It's used to do from single to dual exhaust. The only reason why I don;t think this would work is bacause BMW uses this at the very end of the exhaust right at the exhaust tip so heat might be a concern

Would this work?

Something like this would be easier.

Good bit cheaper than a wastegate too.

Two open-air wastegates aren't going to be heard from miles away?

Only at WOT. This way you can have a quite exhaust, even a stock exhaust but still get good spool up

The link posted by newbern is a much better idea and is kind of like BMW's. Just need to find out where to get one now

There are better exhaust cut-out valves on the market that would work way better than a wastegate ... should be able to get them in full 3" diameter. Recall seeing one on Trucks, ya might try a search on their website.

I think the kit you are talking about is an electronic valve that opens and closes much like a TB. I have heard numerous stories about those not sealing up after a few weeks. It will take some abuse for a wastegate not to seal. BTW, a Tial 38mm wg is only $200

I like the idea of a wg ona downpipe. My only question is, when you work on your exaust, downpipe straight pipe, etc. Get all that stuff, then you have to tune you car for it. Would this require tunning?

im thinking double throttle body

this is along the same lines...but controlled electrically. No silicone lines to melt on your downpipe

Are you referring to the beloved rotor shape of the flange?
