hp is equal to rpm x torque divided by 5252

So it's impossible that you didn't make more torque if you made more hp...

Look closely at the graphs. (if you still have them)
If your torque was dropping off in the higher rpms before and now it's stays level at the same rpms you will make more hp. This is probably where your gains are came from.

That's the beauty of a flat torque curve, keeping revving the car higher and you'll keep making more power...

Huge, huge flaw in that pic above.
Those two rusty pipes below the intake manifold should be connected to a leaf blower of some sought. A whole lot of sucking and no blowing going on there!

BTW. The intake looks good. What size TB on there?

I've long considered trying to fab my own intake. . .I'm curious, what are you guys doing to match the shape of the ports?

Do you just have the flange match it and then just welld circular on top of that? Does some one make the flange with a few inches of pipe coming off in the shape of the ports? The first few inches off of the intake ports seems like the hardest part to me by a lot.

Any insight/derision anyone is willing to offer?

Haha! I know, I know! I just haven't had the time or money to get the turbo stuff fabbed up yet, so hopefully this summer once school is out I can throw something on there.. Plus it'll allow me to learn how to tune this M400 without destroying the motor quite so easily.

It's a Q45 80mm TB.

When I built mine, I actually did it opposite of the way you mentioned. I built most of the runners down towards the port and then squished and hammered the last bend that matches the ports until they were the right shape. They were definitely the hardest part of the entire fabrication process. It seems like the method you suggest would definitely make those tubes easier to fab, but I was originally concerned with making sure that the runners were all the exact same length and shape.

cool. . .thanks for the reply. . .your mani look good, does it feel better (stronger)?

How's the control with that single valve TB? I've heard people say that not using a TB like the RX7s (with different primary and secondary butterfly valves) reduces streetability. . .I have no experience with anything other than mazda TBs, but it'd sure help my situation to have one just like yours.

Last question. . .does your TB have IAC?

Its not what I would necessarily call a streetable car... being bridgeported and an OS twin plate clutch doesn't help either... However it is my daily driver right now.

It does feel pretty solid for an N/A motor.. Although, right now its running a stock cat back just to keep the exhaust from making my ears bleed, so not at its full potential yet.

Its hard for me to say how the TB effects driveability as there are just so many variables, since everything its a brand new setup.

The TB does not have a built in IAC, I really haven't seen many that do. I'm sure you could get a generic GM or ford valve to control it if you're going to use a standalone, its just one thing I didn't really want to mess with.

A bit of topic, but when I was browsing Yahoo auction Japan I found a company called Stillway. They are Rx7 and Silvia Specialist.
They are also featured in the High octane DVD as japans preferred turner. Dont know if anyone saw there 300km/h street FD on that DVD?

Anyway they have a nice semi pp LIM for the FD that also carries a pair of extra injector ports. and bolts back on to stock UIM. Nice!
From memory it was quite cheep too!

Keep an eye on there auction site. Its not there tonight I’ve just checked but I’m sure it will be re-listed again soon. Anyway lots of other interesting rx7 stuff there from a Japanese perspective.

I love that thick oil baffle plate they have. Most do something to stengthen the motor?
