help me please

I bought a 1993 mazda rx-7 with a single turbo setup..... here are my issues....

1. it was sitting for a while and had a couple of mice or rats in it. the animals (what ever they were) ate through the fuel injection wires on the front injector.

2. it has a greddy turbo timer and apex-i stand alone. how will this hinder me getting the beast started and running.

3. it has a t-78 greddy turbo. what is this going to do as far as getting up and running.

i got the car for a great deal... but i am trying to get it running today....

i need a wiring diagram for the injectors. i have got the motor to turn over but obviously since the wires aren't on the injector it won't start.

please help me

thanks,
steve

yes it is turning over just sounds like fuel isn't getting thru the injector.

i think i am just going to take it to a mazda dealer..... if it was a honda i could fix it myself but i don't know enough about rotary motors and i don't wanna f it up.... here are a couple of pics of what i am working with....

everything is pretty much greddy and apex-i

thanks,
steve

I would suggest not taking it to a Mazda dealer and take it to your closest rotary shop if you dont feel comfortable working on it yourself.

Do I spy rat turds by the power fc? yikes.

If you dont mind coming to north NJ, PM rotary experiment seven. He knows FDs inside and out, and (unlike rotary shops that are usually very backed up) he works on one car at a time.

OMG EEWWW!! I didn't notice that till you mentioned it.

It might be a good idea to send the injectors out to get cleaned first before taking it somewhere. How long has the car sat? They might be all gunked up with rat turds!

how much did you pay for that beast!

it looks like a nice car aside from the rodent issues.

don't bring that car to a dealership, they won't know wtf to do with it.

Has the compression been checked? May want to start with the basics since the car has sat for so long.

yes mice turds..... they are gone now both turds and mice....

what do you have to do to clean the injectors?

i did a start up proceedure that a rotary guy (a friend of mine knows) told me to do. i don't believe the apex's are stuck and i believe it has been sitting (with no start up or driven) for 3 months maybe 4 months. it was serviced about 8 months ago and i was told it runs between 500 and 600 horse power. since i don't know rotary motors i don't know how realistic it is. but i do know that a T-78 is a BFT (big fukin turbo).

i am going to see about where to take.

Usually you would send your injectors to places like WitchHunter performance to get cleaned and flow tested.

3-4 months isn't terribly long for a rotary to sit, if it were years that may be an issue. Rodents tend to chew up ****, you may want to go over your wiring and check every inch to see if one hasn't been chewn thru.

I highly doubt any mazda dealership will touch that car with the mods it has. You need to take it to a real rotary shop if it comes down to it.

Give us a call. We are in Ohio and can probably fix your problem in a half hour. We have also built your same setup at least 10 times as both of my RX-7's have had the same turbo.

i have a trust mushroom foam filter for it....

turbo is dirty but it is polished.....

the car is running.. it was taken to a highly recommended rotary guy who is good friends with a friend of mine.... he said it tested at 190 psi across the board for the compression test... it is very responsive... i will be picking it up hopefully on friday... it is getting an alignment done as i type this...

now a new question does anyone have any programming info for the apexi power fc?

thanks,
steve

let me start off by saying i don't believe i will be keeping the rx7.... it seems to have way to many problems and i don't think i have an endless supply of money.... i picked up the car on saturday and it runs terrible. it doesn't idle for crap, it is blowing out white smoke, it seems to be overheating, if i drive it for 10 minutes and come to a stop it stalls and then will not start for atleast an hour..... i think the apexi power fc needs completely retuned.... i think it is running rich... the speedo doesn't work.... the temp guage doesn't work.... it have runs up to about 3500 rpms and then runs very stong and very hard....

this sucks because the color and style of the car is just awesome.... this is like my number 3 car on my dream list and i don't wanna get rid of it but i just think the negatives out way the possitives.... not only to mention that i was also looking at an evo which has a back seat and due to having a 2 year old and one on the way a back seat would help... i have a civic as a daily driver but would love to have the beast for occasional daily driving, weekend and track.... just doesn't seem to have any reliability in the near future what so ever....

if somebody can give me some suggestions that would help me keep the dream car let me know or should i bail on it....

thanks,
steve

Get it down to us and we will take a look over it and see exactly what is wrong with it. It could be something serious or it could be an easy fix. Better to findout out first before selling it.
