Help:anyone usuing this setup??

I recently purchased a HKS cast iron manifold to use with my turbonetics 62-1. Did the install but the the turbo seems to be touching the frame and holding alot of strain, anyone experienced this?

hey, like you saw in my thread, I had that same issue, in fact I couldn't even get the turbo to bolt on because it was too tight in there. people kept saying it should fit so I thought maybe it was my motor mounts pusshing the motor to the side a little or something. but I went with a different manifold.

but one thing I Was going to try to do is buy a T4 flange and put in in between the turbo and manifold to get it to push up and sit that half inch higher, or a raiser for another inch to try to clear the frame!

hope you can get it to clear somehow without going smashy smashy

I did just that with my old OBX manifold, couldnt fit the 1.0 hot side w/o it. 1/2 in flange and some longer bolts and it worked like a dream

Is that a 1.32A/R exhaust housing. That could explain some of the missing clearance. I'm pretty sure 1.15A/R and 1.0A/R will save you a few precious mm.

If it is bigger than 1.15A/R the housing is probably overkill anyway.

i would say motor mounts.....and that does look like a HUGE exhaust side...... i also have the spacer on my setup and made the clearence much more workable

1.00 cleared fine (couple MM) when I ran it.

That is much larger than a 1.00

I have since switched to a .84 and gives plenty of room (which is what is in pics).

I also moved up my coolant hard line so that i could clock the turbo almost straight up and down with out interference (you can see i tapped a new bolt hole to mount it higher).

The previous owner did not and I can see it rubbed alot on my compressor housing (probably wore through the coolant line also).

You will want to ensure atleast 1-3mm gap depending on motor mounts.

The OP has the FD HKS cast manifold and it looks like a FD chasis.

The pics i posted was the FD manifold in a FD chasis.

I had the same problem with my HKS manifold. Ended up being shot motor mounts. I went with the 2S Himni Polyurethane Motor Mounts, and now have a good 3" from the frame and turbine housing.
