Manifold fitment!

So I am trying to find a manifold that will fit a Turbonetics T-66 on my FD. I currently have a HKS cast iron but I would need to do some modifications to make it fit and I was looking for something that would get it to fit with no mods and sit higher up than the HKS one does.

Does anyone one have any experience with this turbo and fitment? and anyone have one for sale that would fit?

it should fit with no modifications. Where is it not fitting?

because the manifold is so low and the flange is so close to the block, the compressor housing hits both the LIM and the frame on the other side! seams like i would need to cut a good inch out of the frame to get it to clear! which I don't want to do.

It looks like I need a manifold that will push the turbo enough forward to get the turbo enough forward and higher to clear the frame edge and the LIM.

Silly questions, but you sure you have the FD3S HKS manifold and not the FC3S?

You will need a tubular unit to sit higher

Hey, your not the first one to ask me about if it was for a FC and not a FD... I bought it off a guy on the form saying it was for a FD... I guess I might have got duped!?!? I mean maybe it will fit a smaller frame turbo in there. but yeah NO way the T66 was fitting in there that low.

here is a picture of the manifold,

Thats the FD manifold. Can you take a picture of the turbo? A T66 compressor housing shouldnt be big enough to hit both the LIM and the shock tower.

I have those parts in stock infront of me, and I can tell you a T66 fits. That is an FD3S manifold

I only snapped two photos from the front. I at no point was able to get the flange to align with the manifold... it either hits the wall or the LIM. the photos are of the turbo sitting on the manifold as close as it can get, and if you look, its at a angle because I could not get it flush in there.

and this is what it looks like fitting in ok with the new manifold! I don't know, I mean I was there with my friend and we were just shocked at how the hks fit... I know my mounts are bad and the motor maybe shifted a little bit, but it was extreme... If I end up having to take this manifold off before I finish the set up I will take more pics of the fitment and layout!

are your motor mounts busted or not sitting properly?

bummed is a understatement probably... I was so upset when I saw mine did not fit... I'm sure you felt the same way JDAM

Got_hp funny you mention the mounts... I have been having issues with my mounts ever since I installed then last winter. my motor was sitting about a half a inch higher than normal... which in my turbo case would have been great because it would have cleared the frame... lol... but while I had my car apart we noticed what was wrong with my mounts and I fixed it and its sitting at the right height, but that all happened before I put the turbo in. lol. wish that was my issue!

GOOD LUCK JDAM, hope it fits in!

We got it to fit. motor mounts were the exact problem. I replaced them with aftermarkets which set the motor about 1/2 in. lower. we just gave the frame rail a lil lovin and the s366 fit perfect!

Yours sat lower! I wish aftermarket mounts were more standard! I know they will be different... but a half inch is crazy! I mean your were lower, mine sat higher. so high I have a nice hole in my hood from the IC pipe hitting it and another piece hitting it!

Glad it fit in there man! sweet! post a pic!

thanks for sharing the pic's yeah the hammer is one of my options... and the other is to shave down the compressor housing a little, it has some meat on it so I might be able to get away with that. I am hesitant to smash the frame because then the frame will never be straight again, and the value would be lost... not that anything else on the car holds it value with all the changes. but I need to figure it out soon

yeah man it was a pain, I did not want to deal with all that problem and work around for it, went with another manifold! even now I still got a issue, but I am just going to hammer it in a little or shave the compressor housing a little.

So I found out why my t66 was not fitting in... because it was not a t66... it turns out the turbo is a t70... the guy who sold it to me said it was a t66 but I guess he did not know what he was talking about... that solves fitment issues from one perspective.
