Guys who AREN'T RUNNING Primary Injectors, How did you plug the holes ?

For those of you who aren't running primary injectors. How did you plug the injector holes in the block ? I know a company (I forgot the name) makes a kit for that purpose but I'm looking for more of a cleaner, more permanent way.

Anyone ?

RB is the company your speaking of, and yes their brackets could be more tasteful, however the actual plugs are nice and I can't see a better way to make those...

Well, If I could find a low profile plug, something that's not going to stick above the block then I'd find a way to hold them there.

I don't see why I couldn't weld the holes shut once I decide to take the motor apart.

I used freeze plugs but it was hard to get a tight enough fit. I ended up having a bracket that bolted to the factor location, and had two posts that went down into the freeze plugs so that they were held in place (and not just relying on the press fit).

Find an old school 13B center iron

If it were me I'd either tap them/plug them, or weld in a pair of slugs turned on the lathe.

If you are permanently plugging them, you could tap them and put some screw type plugs in them with some JB Weld to freeze them in place.

I'd opt for something not permanent. if you ever change you mind or want to sell the engine it leaves your options open. Would be possible to cut down the RB plugs and make them lower profile if you wanted. Also, would make swapping the plugs to another iron easier if you ever need to.

If you must go permanent I've had good success with Devcon in irons. The surface should be roughed up and very clean. Would be easy to place a piece of masking tape in the port roof to hold the Devcon in place until it sets up and hardens leaving a fairly smooth surface.

Just use JB Weld. Put some tape on the underside to hold it in and fill up the hole to the top. Nice and even and works great. The quick stuff sets up hard in around 4 min. too. Never had a problem using it, Just take the tape off when its set up and your done.

Hell I once used JB Weld to hold in a valve seat that kept poping out of a Onan 20hp motor. Ran for 800 hours without coming back out lol.

I have the RB plug, they are brand new (been sitting somewhere at home for at least a year); if you are interested, send me a PM.

I am going to have to say, personally I wouldnt want it to be permanent. You can keep your options open and choose whatever setup youd like, even if you sell it, that other person could just take out the plugs and do there thing.

Eric i just taped mine and used hex plugs it has held for years with no leaks. If i wanted to change i can unscrew them and do what ever. I belive there 1/2 plug and didnt even have to drill to get them taped. Plus i used heavy grease to keep metal out of the irons.

^I thought you were using the stock upper and lower intake??? If you pluged the primaries you must be using the excessive LIM.

i used to plug them with 2 dimes and some clear silicone. worked perfect everytime. i'll let you know how it is removing that stuff when i start my next engine build. i will finally be pulling one of my old motors apart for some work in the coming weeks.

EDIT: come to think of it ... you'll be cramming atmospheres into your motor, unlike me, so maybe it might not be the smartest move. may put an eye out ...

benefit? well, deleting the stock primaries is mostly for simplicity. if you go carburetor or you have an intake setup that provides for 4 injectors, then you can opt to delete them.
