gtech comp to street tune with egt,w/b and knock meter
I have a egt gauge, going to be purchasing a wideband in a week or 2 also will have a knock meter regardless with a haltech or power fc and datalogit.We only have one dyno in the city and a fellow rx7 driver went on our only dyno and said the guys there didnt really know what they were doing and my fellow rx7er said his car ran a bit worse after he left from there,he paid 800 cdn for 15 pulls,hes the only guy i know who has a haltech and happens to have it in a rx7,metem few days ago. He told me i would be better off with a gtech pro to tune,until i can drive it out to someone who knows about rx7 tuning on proper dyno.im planning to self tune because its the only option i have,should i use the gtech comp along with rest of the equipment i stated? I did searches on acc22,blitz power meter, apex's.Gtech pro says it can measure toruqe. heres A LINK TO gtechcomp.

When tuning for the first time last week I found that road tuning was pretty easy. I think you get the best maps this way also. I'd rather have my car tuned for what it sees everyday instead of what it sees on a dyno. It's really not that hard to tune on the road but I do reccomend you get a passenger to do the tuning while you drive. Make sure it's someone that you can trust to move the bars on the computer up and down. Tuning on the freeway was the easiest for me. You can load the engine how you want on the freeway in 4th or 5th gear. I'ts real hard to tune any load while crusing down the highway because by the time you hit the gas you're doing 80 in a 50 zone :O
The WB meter will be your buddy for those days you tune, it will tell you things you would have never known or guessed.

I already know where the temps are supposed to be at idle,cruise and wot as well as for afr's.Would it be a waste of money to get the gtech after having a wb02.egt and a knock meter and the logs from a stand alone? I dont care about 1/4 miles or w/e else,just need the proper road tuning equipment.I do have a good amount of knowledge on tuning factors,did lots of reading, and when i get equipment together i should be ready to do hands on tuning.

By the time you plug in all your dodads your not going to know whats going on while tuning. I found it hard to keep my eye on the road, WBo2 meter, Boost gauge and haltech all at once while trying to keep the car in between the ditches. There is a lot of stuff going on while tuning but I guess if you have a passenger you can devide up the responsibilities. If you don't care about quarter mile times I don't see a reason to get the gtech.
