Ball bearing without question at this point. I'm not willing to chance a regular GT40 spooling the same as my current turbo which btw is in the shop having a Vband welded in the downpipe just aft of the turbo AND all new gaskets courtesey of GReddy after only, oh, a FOUR month wait!

I'm sure once the wastegate is actually sealed it'll boost a bit quicker (not to mention the downpipe and turbine inlet). The shop neglected to put all four studs/bolts on the wastegate inlet last time so they get to do it again :-)

Well, my plans may be changing. After spending $80 on new GReddy gaskets (thanks to SP Engineering and Mark who came through for me big time!) my car is a new animal with emphasis on animal. My old gaskets were in horrendous condition. The T4 turbo inlet gasket was in two pieces. The downpipe gasket was missing it's bottom half. The wastegate gasket was completely black on one side. The car was so loud, a friend could her me start her up in the morning two blocks away (no kidding!). It's so quiet now I almost didn't realize the engine was on. Driving around with the new gaskets, it was the same sensation as having earplugs in.

After I pulled away from the shop (car was already fully warmed), I turned the corner and shifted into second. Nailed the throttle and WHAM!, rear end came around as the needle shot to 7500rpm in a nanosecond. I shut the throttle and looked down...hit 1.18kg! Cold night here in Florida and I'd forgotten to readjust my solenoid duty cycles (AVC-R) for the now leak-proof setup. I've since turned them down to 40% across the board until I have a chance to "adjust" them properly. Ended up blowing a hose off the turbine discharge elbow ending my fun fior the night. Probably a good thing as I left the radar detector in the wife's car.

I'll have to do a bit of tuning on Monday and drive around a bit more before I jump off my current bandwagon and onto the Ball Bearing GT40R wagon. For right now, I'm a happy camper with my 1/2 of a GT40 turbo.
