If it were me I wouldn't use anything and deal with it, but for those who wanted it to be somewhat damped you could use some type of rubber washer/spacer.I would say that it is not going to be for some one who is worried about that and more for some one who is geared more torwards performance.

There should be numbers out very soon, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

If Sean ever sends me one of these braces, I'll tell him where and what to add to dampen it a bit.

Sean,

What model wastegates are you using? Im interested in purchasing a kit to replace my GT3540. Also, what numbers have you gotten, if any at all..

Regards

What rpm's does the power kick in and when is full boost? What is the efficiency range (20lbs)? Is there any info compared to the HKS T04Z?

I am using a 45mm Progate, or a 50mm turbonetics gate, on it , the numbers will be out there very shortly wait just a little longer

As for comparing it to the TO4Z, I had the numbers here somewhere, and can't find them, but if I remember correctly it is pretty close to the same.

The compressor map of the GT40R looks very nice -- efficient over a wide range of sane (and insane) pressure ratios and flows for 13Bs. I like it especially because it is efficient even at low (<15 psi) pressures, and stays efficient as you up the pressure, too. This doesn't look to be one of those turbos that everyone will say is "only efficient above 20 psi", etc.

Check it out here (GT40, but it's the same 88mm compressor): http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...downloads.jsp#

Efficient <15lbs ...Now that's what i'm talkin' about! Looks like the GT40R is the best deal, since the T04Z kit will prolly retail for $600 more (not sure how many more parts in the kit HKS has). Too bad I can't McGyver my twins with duct tape untill I can get one!

What is a "swing" gate and why is a larger wastgate better?

I'm lookin to run 15lbs max on street gas. I'm building an ultimate street car and not a track race gas car. I don't want to run dual fuel pumps, nor 2ndary fuel rails and/or injectors. I want "quick" spool and low end torque (like a Z06 but faster). Is this the turbo for "me"?

This turbo may be for you, but more importantly than quick spool and low end torque, what are your hp goals, and then lets go from there. You can't have all of everything ie. 550whp@15psi by 3200rpm's on pump gas, but I think we can get this turbo with the smaller hotside to give pretty quick spool and still give good power. What mods do you have?

The "swing" gate as I call it is something I had drawn up yrs ago but Turbonetics got around to doing it first(should a got it patented). Anyway they call it a "NewGen" gate How it works is instead of it being just a push open valve that requires the air to make a abrupt 90degree turn, it is designed to open so that the valve swings open and to one side kinda allowing it to flow more at 135 degree bend kinda, (much better for airflow), as far as "bigger is better on the wastegate" bigger wastegates can be harder to modulate at lower boost pressures, but they can flow more and good flow is important for higher HP apps., I wouldn't go any larger than 50mm for what you want.

^ Thanks for those replies!

My goal is to equal (or beat) a Z06, which I couldn't afford when I bought my 7. I beleive it's approx' 400hp. Although, a lil extra would be nicer ...say 425rwhp

From all the posts i've read, 500hp seems to be the monster crossover point and that's when things start to break and also twin fuel pumps, extra injectors, etc. I want to be as simple as possible with PFC running everything. I want "realistic" street horse power attained on 91 octane pump gas, so that limits me to 15lbs and some say 12lbs but I think 1 bar is fine.

My engine is ready to pick up from Madatrix (Street port, water and oil mods). I wish the rotor heat coating from Gothom & rotorsports was available 6 mo ago but too late now. My twins are fine but the manifold is cracked through and spending $3500 to replace them ...just pisses me off!!!

Well depending on your driving skill a 35R will beat ZO6's I've done it quite a few times and thats with the 03's so, you could go that route however it won't give you much room to grow in the future without having to run high boost. Do they not have 93 octane where your at? Another good solution for you may be water injection it would cetainly allow a better cushion for you. We could set it up for you to do exaclty what your looking for , and a 40R is pefect in that respect. Do you have the appropriate fuel mods already?

^ fuel mods: Current - Upgraded ECU, future - 1300 2ndarys & Walbro pump. Possible small fuel reservoir where filter is and filter in engine bay.

That's what I had planned to keep it simple. I know for a few hundred more I could do 1600's but then i'm adding resistors or whatever, a fuel rail and a FPR. There is only 91 octane in CA and it's a different formula then other states to. Adding $10 octane boost to every tank isn't feasable and $6/gal for race fuel would kill me.

I would run it all with a PFC with optional boost control and 3-bar map sensor. Very simple, nothing extra that's not needed. Only 3 gauges - Boost, water & oil temp.

I can't afford the V-Mount in addition to, so I will get a Blitz FMIC in place of my Greddy SMIC and install fans behind it tapped in to the radiator fans power.

Does the GT35R peak at 15lbs? What does the GT40R peak at?

Talked to Dave at KDR today. They dynoed a car with the GT40 kit on it. Car had a stock motor and turned 435 at 18PSI. I think they have done three of the kits so far.

By the way I just installed my kit today, Real, real sweet kit!! The workmanship is superb. I was a little staggered at the size of the turbo. It looks like the size close to that of a T78.

I chose to use steel-braided coolant and oil return hose. I polished the compressor wheel too. Here's a picture of the wheel polished.

Excellent, should be 500rwhp @ 22-25 psi, let's see some SAE graphs with RPM, and AFR

You will need to make a manifold for the car, then it will fit.
