GT 35/40 turbo failure

Anybody have any experience with their Garrett Ball bearing turbo failing. I was crusing putting some miles after a rebuild when I heard something rubbing. I checked under the hood and the turbo was making a really lound noise like it was grinding. I got home checked to see what happend and the compressor was completely rubbing the side of the housing. I checked to see if I had oil going to the turbo so I disconnected the line going to the turbo, after a few cranks I noticed I had enough oil to fill half a water bottle. Seemed clean no foreign particles. I have noticed after my rebuild that the oil pressure seemed a little hi at times specially on boost, upwards of 80 according to our awesome stock gauge. I'm planning on taking the turbo out this weekend and sending out to Garrett to ascess the reason for failure. do you guys have any information on this issue. What can I tell Garrett to maybe get some type of warranty. Help is greatly appreciated.

The compressor wheel contacting the housing is mainly from shaft play. I'm surprised because ball bearings have much more stable bearing units than journal bearing version. How many miles on the turbo?

You should check the flow out of the housing. The restrictor may be clogged.

Backround

It's about two years old. Maybe 25,000 miles on it. I was told that the flow was determined by the size of orifice. I checked to see if it was flowing oil and I had very good flow. Maybe to good.
