yes.. this thread went south quick... so hopefully we can all contribute and try to get negative thoughts out. as many have said the GT40 and the GT40R are NOT the same turbos and are much different

Thanks michel. I just compared a little. There's a noticable difference in spool up from 3krpm to 5krpm (comparing both the GT40R and GT40). What manifold were you using since I think you mentioned you were using a Greddy of some sort? As for the hp difference, its pretty close to the same from 5krpm to 8krm.

Notice that Russ with his GT40R and bad motor makes more power down low. Could be a combination of my large ports and less-than-optimal manifold however. You know Steve, if you want to, you could send me one of your manifolds and a downpipe and I would be more than happy to test it out for you on my motor.
And just for kicks, here's all the single turbo cars that were tuned that day. There's an RX6 and a T04S as well.

I "think" I have what would be an older JDM GReddy "SPL" manifold. It's not the manifold that comes in the T78 kit as the runners are larger (I think they're 2") and it's not fully divided like the current T78 kit. The original owner of the kit supposedly dumped the "stock" T78 manifold and had this one shipped over from Japan. He wasn't the brightest. Originally we thought it was an HKS manifold but that proved to be wrong.
For some time I thought maybe my exhaust ports weren't that great but I'm really beginning to think it's the manifold and downpipe. Then again, it could be my exhaust ports and the downpipe. Or my intake ports...who knows! Bottom line, I enjoy the car but I'm definitely itching to try something different.
The spool with your setup was better, correct?

Not quite capt,
at 3krpm, Terry's car made 150rwtq and yours made 120rwtq
at 3.5krpm, it made 200rwtq and yours is around 150rwtq.
At 4krpm, Terry's around 225rwtq and yours is around 175rwtq.
as for anything from 5krpm, its about the same.
