FD 850cc Primarys for FC Primarys

Ok, quick question, can the 850cc injectors from an FD be modded to fit into the Primary fuel rail of a FC?

Also, will they fit with the connectors on an E6K wiring harness?

Thanks.

Its quite possible. I really don't know. I just heard that the FD injectorsare 850cc so I thought I'd ask.

Oh well.

trust me. . . you REALLY dont want to deal with large primary injectors. they work alright when your cruising, but ABSOLUTELY PUMMEL the engine with fuel at idle and low speeds.

A second generation RX-7's injectors are all top feed, a 3rd generation on the other hand is side feed. Waste of time in other words, just go to Marren and buy 890ccs that will drop in with little modification. Or check http://www.rx7.com.

Most setups require only 720's in the primaries anyways. And those are pushing over 400HP! :O! I've seen only 850 and a larger a few times.

where did come by this info Paul?

I have run 850cc primaries for over 4 years now. I am using stock FD secondaries in my modded primary rail. You can buy them from a few places....I of course got them from my shop, Gotham Racing . I have never had any idle, low speed or driveability problems whatsoever.

FDs have 550cc prim and 850cc sec side feed injectors stock, btw.

Thanks for all the info guys. I just wanted to make sure. I guess for now I'll just cut the harness and use my stock 550cc with the E6K harness.

Moving forward, I'll be looking @ either the Greddy 720cc or the Siemens 720cc/850cc. Do any of you guys know if there is any modification necessary to these injectors or to the primary fuel rail to make them fit? Again, we're talking about a S5 FC3S TII. Thanks

So whats the difference between the positioning of the side feed and top feed injectors. I could have sworn that FD injectors were seated vertically just like the fC/??

side feed means that the entire injector is house with a housing that has fuel in it and feeds the fuel to the side of the injector and exit at the bottom.

top feed means that the fuel rail sits on top of the injector and enters from the top and exit from the bottom.

if you look at the side feed injector, you'll see a screen on the side of the it. top feed has a screen on top along with a O-ring.

i use 850 primaries also. i guess its just me being picky about my idle AFR's. i see no higher than 10.9 at idle, and cruising around at low, low speeds doesnt really tickle my fancy either. again, im sure its just me being ridiculous about the AFR'S.
