Yes, it's a custom jobbie for the GT35/40...I actually bought it from lanechange on the forum......He got it from

"I got that GT35/40 Kit from Ivan at RPM in Australia. It was quite the ordeal trying to get it made. It is one of very few made with a cast mani...I guess Ivan and Tim down there (they started that whole GT35/40 thing) were having problems with SS mani's cracking on high boost pulls...so you have the absolute first cast mani made for the FD.

He is curious how it does as well, he emailed me not to long ago to see how my dyno went...then I had to break the bad news to him.

But now you know"
Anyway, dats the beef on it.

that sound is the best part about turbo cars.. When boost hits I cant think of anything better then the wastegate sCReaMinG since that is when your car is finaling hauling ***..

Last weekend I heard a single turbo with a mp, N1 exhaust and a vented WG on the dyno. I was standing by the pas side door when he made a couple pulls. Before the WG opened it was LOUD and after it opened it went from loud to horrendously stupid loud. In a way it was kind of neat, but I think it would get old after a few highway pulls.

my car is so loud it makes my ears rign after a long highway drive. The car Chris is talking about is way louder and i would not ever drive it unless it was track only.

I measured 118.7dB in my car with the windows UP - god knows what it is outside!

Thats loud enough to cause instant permanent hearing damage - I wouldn't recommend it. Even driving around with earplugs hurts my ears after a few minutes.

My car is currently being re-muffled and i'm putting that dump tube back into the exhaust

PS - Apneablue, that manifold is not cast, it's a tubular manifold with what looks like a ceramic coating.

From the setups that I have heard, it's NO WAY at all nearly as loud as vented to atmosphere. Unless the ones I heard just weren't boosting high enough or something. How much of a difference did you see Manolis??

a resonated midpipe isnt gonna matter if your wastegate is open to the atmosphere. It drowns out every other noise. I raced a old muscle car with a big V8 in it and the people standing at the finish line couldnt hear the V8. It sucks.

Ok, so they are really loud, we got that much...but is there any performance advantage to havingiit dumped vs. plummed back into the DP?

i have heard that if its not mounted in the right place on the downpipe you can lose up to 27 rwhp...i dont know if that is right or not though

I think 27 is a bit much.... I'd say more like a few like 1-5... *maybe*.

Just be sure to enter back into the exhaust stream 18in or more down stream of the turbo. That should minimize the increased turbulence to a point that any losses will be negligable.

I'll be doing that on my next system. I love the open sound but it draws way too much attention... and when you're accelerating that fast, you don't need the audio to go with the visual IMO

I guess it's all up to the individual though. I was wondering about the performance differences. Any hard facts about that anyone??
