unbolt the mufflers and catalytic converters from your car and drive your car around. It would sound kind of like that except for only when you reach so much boost the wastegate needs to open. I don't think it will be quite as loud though.

I've got the HKS racing with a dump tube and it will literally damage the hearing of anyone next to my car in the other lane I think. It is LOUD. Imagine a Harley roaring by you at WOT and that's the idea.

All I have to say is when I was doing the exhaust on my 2.5L turbo car I didnt get my muffler in time so I drove it around two days until my muffler came in and my 93 RX-7 with a magnaflow muffler and an Apex GT muffler was still louder. Now imagine exhaust being let free without a muffler. I need to hear a turbo RX-7 without mufflers on it.

Odd. I don't think the open gated FDs I've heard have been that loud.

Of course standing next to 5 cars on a Dyno, they all start to sound the same, heh.

i was driving next to my friend in his mustang with full exhaust headers and all, he was on it and i passed him and when the wastegate opened i scarred my friend in the passanger seat of the stang. thats how loud it is, i agree with the harley quote.

i got pulled over when i was driving at 55 miles an hour on the highway. i wasnt even boosting .the cop said my car sounded like an airplane. i have a 3in downpipe 50mm hks wastegate, adn apexi n1 4in muffler.

our cars are just loud in general. with a atmosphere vented wastegate they're 10 times louder.

People have actually swerved OFF the road when they hear my car coming behind them even if I'm in another lane!

well, its not louder at all unless you under boost. If your running say 15psi, you prob wont even start to hear it till about 10-11psi so its not like your dealing with the sound all the time.....unless you have a **** wg and it leaks lol.

Also most people I know make a dump tube that points down to the ground, I think that helps with the sound

Sometimes, loud is good. I will be running a plane old atmosphere vented WG on my new setup. But in some places I've seen guys get pulled over for their cars being too loud. I hate that damned rule!!

I prefer to take off quitely, makes it harder to know when I gun it if I am silent. Making alot of noise is for mustangs in my opinion. Most of them are loud but don't really go anywhere.

i've got the greddy type-r vented to atmosphere and it's insanely loud. if you're in the passenger side, it tickles your feet. lol

i personally didn't think it'd be that loud with my experience around turbo cars, but the first time i heard it open on the dyno, i about crapped myself. it's almost too loud sometimes, but it's cool most of the time

20psi is way too high of a spring. You need to base your wastegate needs off your turbo not how much HP you want. THe bigger the turbo, the more it can flow so you need a wastegate that can run off the execess exhaust flow to keep it from making more boost. The spring setting is the minimum amount of boost you can run, i.e. a 20psi spring would mean you couldn't limit boost until it went past 20 psi.

It is @#$% loud. I used to scare people off the road. Think about this .... there is no turbo to dampen the noise. There is a smaller than exhaust size pipe so the the air speed is quite high and there can be a significant volume of air coming out of that pipe. That makes for a very loud combination.
