You can drift with a stock turbo. It doesn't really have anything to do with the turbo. What are your HP goals?

Both the HKS and Greddy kits should be good for 350-400 HP. The HKS kit may be better for you since it uses a TO4. It's also pretty inexpensive--about $2200. The turbo isn't too big, but it makes good power with little lag--alot like stock. If anything goes wrong with it you can fix it easily. Upgrading that turbo will also be easy if it starts to bore you. The only downside to it is that it comes with an internal wastegate...oh well.

What are you planning to do for your fuel system and ECU? That turbo will easily flow too much air for the stock system.

So basically...

...you want to be able to melt your bigass 285 tires in 3rd gear while flying sideways =P, quite an ambitious goal... I'd try drifting with about 200 to the wheels first before you kill yourself. Although it's a tough thing to master, if you can find a place to practice that is safe to your car and others, than you shoul be able to learn it real quick. I can easily break traction in second gear with my Kumho supra 225s in the rear. Don't bite off more than you can chew... do a little practice before you kill yourself, or someone else =)

Gotcha =)

...Gotta love that feeling of breaking traction after you the turbo spools into max boost range =). When I had my shitty dunlops on the car I would break traction in 1st and 2nd after the turbo got spooled. Clutchin doesn't exactly work on my car 'cause mine basically has none. I'm looking forward to doing a little more tire roasting when I do my next mods =). If you've got the tires, and the power it ain't hard to control a drift... good luck

You'll definitely need some type of fuel computer. What size injectors do you plan on using? What year is your car?

If you modify your profile there's a section to add an avatar. That's the little picture.

If you're going to use a turbo such as the one that come with the HKS kit you may be able to get away with bigger injectors and a super AFC, but probably not. An HKS AIC may do the job. If you're looking for 400 HP your best bet would be a standalone ECU.

dont even try to learn drifting with 400hp are you crazy hehe. you will slide all over the place. a aftermarket lsd is also a plus.

stock turbo is fine, just get exhaust, intake all those goodies. good drifters dont have high horsepower cars anyways.

that is very true... someone posted a video of some guy drifting a new rx7 and it looked pretty stock... I just don't remember what thread it was in, but somewhere in the lounge.. It was entitled "Crazy fast skyline" or something like that..

Personally I reccommend a High Flow turbine. It probably will fall short of 350 wheel horspower but its cheap and easy. I drift with mine and it has plenty of power. 327hp to the rear wheels and 362 at the flywheel 100% tuned by me with some guidance and ideas from people on this forum.

other turbines don't spool the way I like and so on. I am looking at racing for times and full blown races on the circuit so I might go up to like a TD06 or something but a High Flow is the **** if you tune it, I suprise a lot of people.
