Look in the junkyards for an IHI RHF series... those are ball bearing/divided turbine inlet and have remarkably wide compressor maps... I'm looking for an RHF6 which should be more than enough for my 12A... if you want more info on RHF's let me know.

i was wrong... RHE's have divided housings.

Anyway http://www.ihi-turbo.com/turbo_RHE-RHF.htm is the link to the IHI web page... good luck finding anything else. I've been searching for a very long time to find maps for RHB series turbos.

Peejay, you wouldnt happen to have a list of what model trucks those turbos came on, would you? Also, how would you identify those turbos in a junkyard?

Unfortunately no, no list. I've been looking, though. I did hear that the Isuzu turbodiesel box trucks would be a good place to check, as would be turbodiesel Chevy pickups/vans/SUVs. I know the turbo on the Chevy 6.5 diesel IS an IHI, not sure what model, but it's right up on top where it's easy to get at in a junkyard

I already have one IHI - it's an RHB5 off of a 2-liter Isuzu. I basically grabbed the turbo and everything related before I sent the car off to the junkyard. (It's in my lap as we speak ) The compressor housing says "IHI Turbo" in nice big letters, then at the compressor exit it has a stamped pad where it lists the turbo spec, the serial number (begins with the turbo type: RHB5 then numbers stamped in) and a part number.
On the inside face of the turbine housing it lists a bunch of numbers, looks like it's 54mm area, 52.25mm radius - about what it measures out to. On the 2-liter boinger it made near instant boost off idle with no downpipe

I know that Isuzu is building the Duramax engine for Chevrolet for the 1 ton diesel truck market, so if they still have a relationship with IHI then there's a good chance that these will be in salvage yards soon too... just don't know the size etc.
Don.
