Does this sound like an exhaust leak?

I mean, it does, but I have no idea where its coming from. It seems to go away when the car is warm, so maybe the thermal expansion makes it seal up.

My downpipe flange had a small crack in it that I got fixed, but I wonder if maybe there isn't another hidden crack somewhere.

Or is it more likely to just be the manifold to engine, since it's apparently pretty leak prone. Maybe I should try torquing it it just a bit?

Also, I am wondering what the heck that whirring sound is. It didn't make this sound until I replaced the water pump pulley and belt. Maybe my water pump bearings are going bad?

I think the smoke is mostly penetrating lubricant I had to use to get the turbo off? It doesn't seem to be emanating from anywhere particular.

also, the manifold has this weird wart looking thing on it, but it doesn’t seem to be leaking there…

make sure the WG isn’t cracked open, assuming it dumps to atmosphere.

sorry, still haven’t shipped that package, been having some situations lately.

It's not from the WG. Putting my hand over the dump pipe doesn't change the noise. It's not perfectly air tight, but that is the nature of external WGs, I think...

No worries, I'm not quite ready to install it anyway!

I ordered a mechanics stethoscope so that I have even half a chance of pinpointing the source. Probably should have bought one years ago...
