cooling

Hey!. So ive had this problem for awhile. I figured id fix it myself before posting so heres what ive done. I have changed the thermostat and ive burped the cooling system countless times. I have even did the champagne test..no bubbles. Now for some reason on my pfc when i drive my water temps stay at about 77-79 degrees. If i sit and idle eventually it will reach 96 when the fans come on.. but never while driving. I want my temps higher.. like 85-95 degrees.
any thoughts?

Wow, never thought I'd see a post where a rotary owner was complaining about operating temps being TOO cold. Ha!! Need more setup info before we can provide feedback. What kind of IC setup? Dual or single oil coolers. What are the outside ambient temps when you're observing these temps?

I have the greddy air pump delete kit.. basically... every bolt. When it hits about 50 degress i can feel warmth coming from the heater.. and eventually when it reaches 77 it will blow hot. (Car takes roughly around 10 mins to warm up) maybe its just the ambient air.. my engine bay is pretty empty? Also i have the ast delete.

Wow, so yes, Vmount with ambient temps of 5F. I think you're probably right in the ballpark temp-wise. Also, you have a single oil cooler, which should HELP your temps stay a little warmer. I run a monster vmount here in AZ with dual oil coolers and morning coolant temps run around 81C with intake charge temps under 10C with an outside ambient temp in the low 40F range.

Might be worth while to do an aftermarket oil cooler (single or dual) solution with an oil thermostat to keep the oil temps up in weather that cold.

Well.. i prefer my fd to run around the 95 degree mark. Its hard to tune when its not quite fully warm ever. Fuel enrichment stops at 80C short of finding a different thermostat for the winter.. i don't know what to do? Haha.. and thanks. I did all the work myself.. rebuilt and streetported i even redid the rims. When i recieved these they had black paint all over them.

New OEM thermostat and if thats what you already have in there, then a new coolant sensor may be needed.

Thermostat is brand new from mazda. Can you explain why a coolant sensor would do that?

if we are talking about the thermoswitch for the ecu.. i replaced that with a fc thermoswitch. which is properly wired to the aftermarket electric fans, so when coolant temp hits 96 degrees or defined in the pfc datalogit. my problem is it never reaches 90-95C even mid to high 80s would be alright. but 77-79 isnt what i like to see.
