Question can i run 22 psi in my current setup?

https://www.rx7club.com/time-slips-d...-w-ai-1045950/

there is the dyno and the info on my car. currently in the process of installing aem smart coils and using 8.5mm wires.

im wondering if i could bring boost up to 22 psi, would me setup hold up to it? 3" dp and fd hks twin scroll manifold.

any opinions on these. wondering if itll be safe with the 600cc worth of water/meth 50/50 by weight.

What supporting mods? That's really pushing it.. You'd probably be fine with full supporting mods on e85... But pump....

Was that tune done by Brian Cain, or a different BDC? 22psi on a td61 with pump, 50/50 water/meth, and appropriate supporting mods should only really result in a blown motor if your tuner sucks... Please note that I said APPROPRIATE supporting mods.

Plently of people run 22psi+ on pump gas and WM50 with no trouble... an idiot can detonate a motor in a single dyno session no matter what power/boost they push.

I have almost same setup but with a 67mm. I made 520 @ 25 psi on stock coils w twin power. You can easily do 22psi. Make sure timing isn't to aggressive and keep afr around 11-11.5

C16, run 30 psi.

On a serious note, fuel pump needs to be upgraded and rewired if not already if you want it to be reliable. maybe bigger injectors depending on current duties.

the fuel pump is rewired with 10 gauge wire, running a denso fuel pump.
yea it was orginally tuned by bdc. afrs are currently low 11s, to high 10s.
i believe a 10* split at 15 psi and raising to 15* at higher boost levels.

what supporting mods do u guys suggest?
motor is pinned, and a engine girddle was custom made for mr as well.

o yea and compressor wheel on turbo is a billet upgrade

i think timing was at 13* then slowly climbing down at higher boost levels. r
unning goopy 2mm seals

it also depends on your ECU and whether it has a 3 BAR option already set up. if it's a PFC the calibration is usually set for the target max boost for resolution.

there's nothing wrong with pump and AI pushing that boost level, what matters is the tune and making sure you have enough fuel for it. BUT if you lose the AI then you will lose your engine.

C16 is great but over here it is around $17 a gallon currently. 93 octane pump with meth injection is the most cost-effective, convenient, and safe setup if you want to run more than 16 psi on pump. We have run up to 25 psi with no issues.

You said the motor is pinned (totally unnecessary in my opinion. Studs are a better option) but what are the seals clearanced to?

The smart coils are great. You will really need to re-tune though as you will probably lean out slightly if you just change the coils.

You would have better results also if you switched to the newer style id/ev 14 injectors. The stock hard lines under the car start to become a restriction around 500 rwhp and you are probably close to running out of fuel pump as well.

the side seals i clearanced them to .002" if i remeber. im using the goopy 2mm seals
i been thinking of replacing denso pump as well.
its not like im gonna be tracking car everyday but it is my daily, which i dont boost a whole lot. so 22 psi wouldnt be a everyday thing, just dont want it to blew on the one time i do hit 22 psi lol

.002 is tight, but you should be fine at 22 psi. What about the Apex seals? As long as you have the fuel and timing right it will not blow.

i honestly dont recall the clearancing specs on the apex seals. dont think they were too tight, using goopy 2mm seals with oem corner seals.

thinking of upgrading pump just to be on safe side.

just got aem coils installed. might be getting a aeromotive 340lph pump in case.
hoping the 750/1600cc injectors are enough!

As long as the supporting mods are there and you have a competent tuner, you should be fine. I've been running 25psi on 93 and 50/50 and have no issues whatsoever besides frying my clutch. I have lower settings, but I rarely use them because I like the power and have no fear of messing up the motor.

Proper size fuel pump, injectors, fuel pump rewire, and ai to support the extra power 22psi brings.
