Great to see these awesome results coming through . Any idea on why the peak power is so early and then tapers off ?

It's a small streetport or it would be holding torque. I didn't build the engine or it would have had a large streetport to match the big turbo hehe. The customer is probably going water/meth next year so it will be interesting to see how much torque it makes at 25 psi, I think the 9180 billet wheel is just starting to wake up (billet wheels typically need more boost to see the bigger advantage)

So .... limited by the intake porting ?

I wouldn't say limited per say but it is the cause of the peak torque at 6500 followed by a drop off vs a bigger port that holds torque longer. There definitely isn't a restriction in the exhaust system as its a 4" downpipe followed by the 3" straight through all the way to the back and the wastegates are open dump.

There are a multitude of reasons why any particular setup isn't making max power. This car was actually only making like 330 rwhp at the same boost a month earlier. After checking some stuff like boost leaks, I suggested addressing an ignition upgrade (even though it technically shouldn't need it with the HKS twin power) to the Sakebomb ignition kit. This would eliminate coils and wires instead of having to spend time/money testing/replacing those components while upgrading the system at the same time. After installing the ignition kit power went up to about ~407 rwhp (again boost unchanged). I remembered the car was still running stock 9 plugs (new) and put in the colder race plugs and the power went up to the 437.9 rwhp that you see on the dyno I posted. I decided that was close enough to expected results and left it at that giving the car back to the customer since he was happy at that point.

This makes me happy to see. I've got a 9174 EWG with the aluminum center housing that I'll be running on the next motor. REALLY not looking for more than 500whp, just want linear power and the option to go mid-400whp without stressing the turbo.

If the 9180 looks like this, ideally the 9174 will do the same, but with boost coming on a little more to the left ^_^

Hmmh.....Not that late in comparison to say a GTX40.... It's still only a 2 Rotor.

On my car running the 9174... I noticed the lazier response immediately. And my engine isn't nearly as aggressively ported as Abels Rx2 Above. For my needs....the 9174 is too lazy. I want full boost asap all the time, which is why i'm going back to the 8374

But looking at the video graph, He's still got 400 Ftlbs at 5k RPM.

Also.. Abel does this thing on the dyno where he rolls in the TPS. Where a lot of Tuners Hold 100% from a real low RPM all the way to redline. That could be it as well.

Here's my Dyno graph with the 9174...same style...rolling in the TPS

Those two graphs, is it just that the pulls were started at 4500 and 3600 rpm? If so it doesnt really represent turbo response, not that any dyno pull really does, but neither turbo is going to be nothing, nothing, wham like that. From i can see they both got up there pretty smartly.

Yezzir. Thats what I had meant by "rolling tps."

All the EFR's are going to be responsive. I've just been spoiled...so what may seem like a resposive set up to someone who using a GTX is kind of meh.... for someone who's used a few different sizes of EFR.

Ah yes of course. My apologies. In my bleary eyed state I got the post where someone was asking why it was waking up so late mixed up with those graphs.
