Question apex seals for bridge port motor?

What type of seals need to be used for a bridge port motor? Will 2 piece seals work or do you need one piece seals? Also, whats everybodies opinions on Hurley apex seals?

I've never used of the Hurleys, but if you want to spin the crap out of it, i would use 1 peice carbon apex seals. The bad part is, they don't seal as well down low, and you'll probably only get about 50k miles out of them. The nice part about carbons, is that they put almost NO wear on the rotor housings. So you can reuse em over and over again. Even if you break an apex seal, chances are you'll only "dent" the rotor housing. I did this to my pp motor, when i ran a bolt through the rear rotor. Also, never have to worry about that 8,500rpm limit that steel apexs have. Carbons are cheaper than new steel apex seals too. You should talk to Rice Racing about his titanium apex seals. They might be good too. CJ

Carbons are generally only for N/A engines. They can't handle boost well at all.

RR had a chart that listed the max HP the carbon seals could stand before simply breaking. It was impressive. I'd imagine tuning would be even more on the ragged edge, though, even the slightest detonation would pop one. I'd imagine lifespan (assuming they don't break) would be even shorter than N/A, too...

I will be running relatively high boost on a turbo 12A with a bridgeport. Carbon seals are not an option.

Now don't i feel like a moron I did'nt know you where running boost. Yeah...carbons don't like boost at all. I know mazda trix sells 1 peice steel apex seals. Might want to check em out too.

Carbons will take ping, just not as well as steels. I pinged my pp motor running a 150shot Did'nt do anything to it...just scared the crap out of me. CJ

Ah, so you're doing what I want to be doing, then.

Well... I only need to get 260-270hp, so BP isn't *needed*... and if I go BP then turbo isn't *needed*... so might as well have both and detune it!

Sorry I wasnt clear in my 1st post. My main question was do I need 1 piece seals for a bridge port, or can I get away 2 piece seals(not having to worry about losing the corner piece)

Alright, I just got my question answered, but Ill post it for everyone else. You can use 2 piece seals, but they MUST be the Hurley racing seals. The corner piece is longer than Mazda seals, and will not fall out into the bridge port like a Mazda one would.

Are you half-bridge (turning rear seals around backwards) or are you full bridge? Or should I ask, do you have relieved rotor housings on the side the corner piece is on?

Inquiring minds want to know!

edit: Waitaminute... you use Mazda factory 2-piece 3mms? How do you rev so high then? (Some sort of magic seal trick that we can't know about? )
