Is an airpump necessary?
I am facing the need for an exhaust gas test for my APEXi single turbo FD. No visuals.
I understand that the stock converter needs the air pump but the stuff I have been reading about lately point toward not needing an air pump with the modern converters, esp after the engine and converter has warmed up. That's why the late model Corvettes had electric air pumps which disengaged after warm up.
Since I have no air pump and I have the SR midpipe with a catalytic converter. Do I really need to find an electric air pump if the testing is done on a warm engine / converter?
I am trying to get this car passed on the single turbo... all emmissions stuff stripped except for the aftermarket cat and a E6K with the wastegate disabled and running lean. Got to pass the first time through.. it cost $750 to test here in Korea.
What do you guys think?

What kind of a test is it? Dyno or is it a static test(no load)? Will they check idle? I think the biggest problem is if they are checking idle. Off idle you should be able to lean it out and get it to pass, but idle is a problem without a airpump.
