Question Airpump removal???

Does anybody know what's involved if I were to remove my airpump from my '88 TII? I have the Racing beat 3" downpipe and I wanna get rid of my cat and just put a 3" midpipe. Can I just go ahead and disconnect the airpump or is there any adjustment needed to be done elsewhere?? Thanks!

I know you need a block off plate. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine! Hope you get an answer, cuz I want to do this as well!

make sure you get rid of you cat before or at the same time you remove your air pump. if not, the cats will overheat and damage your car...

on my 87T2, I had to just remove it and cork the large line going into it. I think thats all. I'll have to check on the specifics when i get home, i cant remember exactly what all I did. I just know it was incredible simple, 5 min job.

Just remove it, and put a cork in the hole going into the ACV. Or you can just remove the ACV at the same time. You WILL need a blockoff plate for the ACV. You can get it from Racing Beat, or Mazdatrix.

for anyone that has removed the ACV, did you take out the circular valve behind the ACV or leave it in. I took mine out and was just wondering the right way to do it.

That circular valve is a check valve that keeps exaust gas from flowing backwards, towards the airpump etc, when you have the acv and airpump on the car. Shouldn't matter whether or not you left it behind the blockoff plate. You'll want to keep all these parts you take off, just in case your state decides to require emissions certification some day.
