Air Temp Sensor

I am 99% sure but it is that last 1% that bothers me. Does the air temp sensor on a FD3s need to be grounded?. I am moving mine to where my BOV was in my Greddy elbow and insulating it with a type of plastic so it won't be affected by heat transfer. If you are not sure, please don't respond. 2 people have already given me opposite answers.

Thanks - in advance for any input.

True but the car is apart and I was planning on machining and welding the fittings Saturday. I don't know how to check it other than plugging it through the computer. I am not an electrical wiz so basic wiring problems are complicated for me. I can cut / weld / fabricate but ( Thinking is out of the question. My mother said she dropped me several times.) If you could explain how to check it I will - Thanks -

No, it does not need to be grounded. That is why it has two wires.

The thermal swicth has to be grounded as it is a one wire.

The PFC forum had a big discussion on it.

Mine is now mounted in the IC outlet tube which has silicone hoses on both ends. It works fine (reasonable readings on the PFC).

Thanks - adax
Last week I tested the resistance and did a few other checks and was 99% sure that it didn't need to be grounded. It is nice to hear someone has isolated the sending unit and it stile works. I will be able to hook it up to my wiring harness soon.
I just finished fabricating my fittings / welding and did a few other mods but I can't finish because I miss-placed my porting kit with all my cutters, sanding disks and custom extension pieces that I have made for various jobs over the years. This means that I can't clean up the interior of my pipes until I figure out who borrowed it or where I put it last. Just Frigin typical. I just love being so organized. I guess it is time to suck down a cold one.
