71mm? little help here

i'm gonna get a killer deal on an SP71 with a .86 a/r hotside... those are the only specs i know right now.. but im pretty sure it has all the bells an whistles, anti-surge cover, polished housing, ceramic coated exhaust side...

just wondering how this turbo would perform on my 3rd gen. stock ports.

As far as I know it's pretty much the same thing as a PT series turbo. So it's a 71mm turbo with .86 a/r. You should have decent spool and good top end. That turbo is good for over 500rwhp EASY. You will need a custom manifold made to run that size of a turbo because I don't think the HKS manifold comes out far enough to clear everything. I'm going through that same issue right now.

Here are some specs on the PT71 which is a Garrett Turbo.

Compressor Specs
Inducer: 71mm
Wheel Inducer: 2.795"
Wheel Exducer: 3.850"
Wheel Trim: 52
Inlet/Outlet: 4" / 3"
Wheel Style: GT-Q
Turbine Specs
Wheel Inducer: 3.110"
Wheel Exducer: 2.695"
Wheel Trim: 70

Well from what I encountered, the HKS manifold is too short and because of the size of the turbo it hits the strut tower side. I guess you "could" modify the HKS manifold but for the price you'd pay for the actual manifold and then pay to get some custom fabing done, you'd be spending more if you got a custom manifold made. I'm having a local guy build me a manifold like the one Gotham Racing makes for their GP74 kit. Look at the pictures and you can see that the manifold has to come out a bit further up so the turbo can clear the strut tower area.

Did you buy the turbo? I saw you posted a wanted ad on the classified section that you're looking for a T4 turbo. If you're looking for a 60-1, I can get you a deal on a brand new Garrett one. PM me. What's your goal with the car anyways? What power are you looking to get?
