HKS t04R questions

anyone have this turbo? i'm wondering what kind of power it will make on a streetported (racing beat templates) s5 motor at around 10psi and 15psi so i can keep it on pumpgas...

any input would be great!

From everything I know about the T04R you would be wasting your time at 10psi. They are designed to run at a much higher boost level than that. IIRC that turbo is best suited for 16psi up to 25psi. I could be a bit off on those numbers, but I remember the R being happy at high boost.

Zachs right, if your only going to push 10-15psi get something small like a t04e or t04s. Only go with the t04r if you going atleast 1bar. Talk to chuck from rotaryextreme, hes had many experiences with the t04r and t04z (bb to4z). Last time i was at the shop i rode in a t04z 600hp monster...which goes to show you its meant for high boost.

the t04r will give you 291 rwhp at 6 psi.. with the exact mods.

yeah if you plan to run less than bar, I would get a T04E 57 or 60 with .96 housing. I made 372rwhp @ 12psi on stock ports using one.

i was really wondering how much power the turbo would make on pumpgas, at around 15psi, 10psi being the wastegate setting...

what you need is a compressor map for a T04R and you should be able look at it and see about how much power it will make at differant boost levels

I'll have some dyno numbers for you soon. A good friend of mine will be getting his FD tuned in the next week or two. Here's the specs so you can see if it lines up with what you have.
'94 FD with stock ported engine
Haltech E8
850cc/1600cc injectors with a Walbro 255lph
HKS T04R
FMIC (I think he just pieced it together so I don't know a brand)
3" DP, 3" MP, Blitz Nur spec catback
And he'll be dynoing at 15-16psi.
BDC will be doing the tuning so I'm sure that he'll extract everything he can out of the car. I'll be sure to post up the numbers after the dyno day.

black beauty, what size A/R turbine are you running? I bet that is going to be a powerhouse!!!! Best of luck on the tune.

Jacob, the tuning day is approaching. I'll be sure to keep you up to date with what happens.

Well, the tuning I mentioned won't be happening. There were some ECU problems that came up. Sorry about that J. Cartmill. I would say check out Wargasms dyno page. If I remember right there are quite a few dyno sheets from T04R's on there.

Hey were you talking about me????? If you were I got some bad news, leaky turbo no good. I ordered a new one and I'm getting that one in the car rebuilt. I wish I would have made some numbers but nothing yet. 37 days left
