500whp Street car what clutch are you using?
I have not owned a twin exedy on my car but I drove one with it and it is pretty good.
However, it was not as smooth on the engagement as the OS Giken. I also don't know if it has the same holding capability.
To tell you the truth the OS feel slightly harder than stock, like 15% if that, and the engagement is like stock in that you can slip it, it does have a shorter engagement stroke but it is very progressive, instead of the on or off feel of the puck clutches...almost like it was a street disk.
Chris...
The 6 puck sprung hub HD act clutch is pretty good. Def holds over 500 hp and is pretty easy on your left foot. Even in traffic its not a big pain but there is some chatter and the engagement is a bit abrupt.

/\ thanks alot chris cause all i here are exedy twin disc and there are others out there. Mostly the os giken are found around here for a reasonable price so was just wondering before i attempt to buy one.
on the other hand i was making around 470 to the wheels. just replaced my clutch with a 6 puck and a flywheel and have had no problems what so ever for 2 years so far. But ill soon be a 650monster so i figured i know my options before i get there

I'm telling you if you're looking for a long-term clutch and every plan on going over 500whp at some point, go with a Tilton flywheel and 7.25" twin-disc metallic disc clutch. You can buy new discs for $100, it's fully rebuildable. Ask 13B-RX3 where he got the flywheel from, I currently have his old one.
times are tight and a friend of mine is selling me a act heavy duty pressure plate. it was on his 600whp fc. i don,t exactly know which model it is exactly. i plan to buy a new act disc,. which disc should i use?i like the 6 puck hub disc
any one used the spec stage 3+ clutch?
I am thinking of ordering it tomorow
or should I go with something else for the money

Does the os giken still use the stock pull type setup? I was looking at one twin disk and it required a conversion to the push type. Don't recall the brand. I imagine the stock flywheel works with the Os? And where can you get parts for how much?
I have a 6 puck sprung clutchnet disc. ACT HD pressure plate. It held up to the 410rwhp with warped apex seals. I still plan to use it with new seals and 500-600rwhp.
Cheap disc and I would prefer it on the street. The rest of the gears bang so hard it makes up for the little extra feathering in 1st.

From what ive told the exedy just comes with the clutches & bearings.
The OSgiken comes with everything needed to convert to use it on the car.
I had a ACT Xtreme PP and 4 puck unsprung clutch. Decent setup though I disliked the clutch. Once it was warm it could be a bit grabby, but the big irritation from a drivability standpoint was it chattered if you slipped it at certain rpms. Fine for a track clutch, but I woudn't want to daily driver it for sure.
I went to the Exedy twin disc setup and am very happy with that. Feels like a street clutch in comparison to the old ACT setup. It works with the stock "pull" config, no extra parts necessary. Only downside to this setup is weight. Though it is smaller diameter (200mm clutch discs), total weight for the flywheel, PP, and clutch discs/sandwich plates was 30.4lbs. I was able to have a machinist take a couple pounds out of the flywheel (rebalanced perfect), but it was still almost 4lbs heavier than my old ACT setup. With the smaller diameter parts it is hard for me to tell any difference between the two setups from an inertia standpoint.

P.S. The ACT setup was rated at 577 ft-lbs I think. The Exedy I've seen listed on the web at 410ft-lbs, but the spec sheet that came with it said the twins were rated to 515ft-lbs.

The SPEC 3+ is the BIGGEST PILL OF CRAP ever made. Feel free to let them know I said so..HAHAHAH... Long story but if you buy one you will soon see why..
Act 6 puck has been proven time and time as the best bang for the price, sprung or unsprung.
I too also agree that a tilton is a great unit for high hp drag racing. Most likley were I will go on my next motor. I cant swap now as they drill my clutch cover for balancing the entire rotating assem.

ive had the twin disc OS Giken 2 years ago. it does convert it to push style and uses its own flywheel too. I didnt notice any pedal difference and at the time it replaced a factory stock clutch. Rebuild kits for that clutch are about $700 and only come from Japan so the wait is usually few weeks.
How does the os clutch/flywheel compare in weight to the stock flywheel with a sprung 6 puck? I'm thinking of going with the os but i've also considered having a lighter flywheel to free up some revs.
