I don't see tires or a clutch/flywheel package in your to do list though. After driving with a 9.5lb flywheel, it's the only way to go IMO and with it all apart, it's the best time to do it. And your stock clutch won't last or hold up to those power levels.

EDIT: upgraded motor mounts or a torque brace would be a very worthwhile mod also.

And to others commenting on the fuel system, the AI will definitely take a big load off of the main fuel system.
I forgot to list the clutch and some others

I actually planned on getting an ACT clutch and my Transmission rebuilt.
The reason for the Tranny rebuild is ever since I got the car it has had a problem grinding in 5th if I went into it fairly quick. 3rd will also grind every so often especially when power shifting.

I don't think however I will be getting an after market flywheel nor the motor mounts. Rick says my stockers should be fine so I'm just gonna go with that.

Also for tires I'm holding off until my CE28N's come in from Japan.

And for body work I'm still not sure.. Maybe an R1 wing. Although I'm loving wingless so far

Well looks like I might have been sent the wrong Turbo.
I sent pictures of the turbo to the manufacturer just to be safe and to him it looks like their new 500R.

I'm sending him other pics this Sat when I stop by the installers shop but it doesn't look good..

Might have to send it back and wait another 3 wks for the right turbo and the cars already in the shop and torn apart!

Well it would depend on its response time..
Supposedly it's not much different then the 35r's I've heard..

Not sure what I'll do once I know for sure it's a 500R.

Thumbs down

Yup, confirmed on Saturday; it's the wrong turbo!

500R instead of a 35R.

I've decided I will be sending the 500R back in exchange for the 35R I originally ordered.

Reason for this is I do not want to go with such large injectors and fuel rail required for the 500R. Also since this will be a primarily street/circuit driven car I think the 35R fits my application best.

I really want to see how this build turns out, since I'm planning on going with the 35R very shortly.

Ive seen two 500r applications in the last month and both of them streetported... Neighther made better power than my 35r at comparable boost levels and I had stock ports... Dont know why they think the 500r is better...

I'm wondering about your injector sizing and 91 octane. Even with the AI that seems to be cutting it a bit close.

Am I the only one that sees a problem only running 91? Why not 93?

What about a Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Reg to handle fuel pump and injector demands or is Alcohol injection compensating? Aluminum Radiator for heat control? Do you need to relocated battery for that V-mount..if so there is another 250 for battery and hardware..Just my 2 cents

For your setup, 1300cc sec are small. I am close to my limit on 1600 cc secondary, stock primary 550ccs and 18 psi with meth injection. even with the gt35r it may not be enough..

500R? .... A better turbo than the GT35R I think..

You will definantly need a clutch upgrade, and I won't recommenced the ACT street/strip because mine lasted maybe 10,000 miles before it started to slip. The street/strip is only rated to around 300lbs of torque, and you will be making more than that with a single and especially if you plan on raising the boost later. I'd recommend a 6-puck clutch or anything with a higher torque rating.

I would reccomend going with an AI setup, as you have listed.

I have the RX-7store V-mount intercooler. Its a great setup. my air intake temps never seemed to go above 30 C this summer, this setup works great, looks great and is a good price

you have a ton of mods listed, have you considered buying a modded car? You are talking a lot of money here...

The 500R keeps making power after the GT35R dies, around 20 to 22 psi. Basically for what I have heard, it takes a little bit more to spool but keeps working at higher boosts than the GT35R. For what you are expecting, it should be ok with the 35R. And yes like they told you, if you are thinking about going close to 450whp you should need 1600's on the secondaries.

Sweet build, it sounds like you've really thought it through ahead of time.

RE: the GT35R vs the 500R... In the context of the rotary engine, is it more beneficial to run a relatively smaller flow capacity turbo like the GT35 with a large turbine A/R to compensate or run the relatively larger 500R but reduce the A/R to speed up boost response?

dude, do not run with 550/1300. that is too small. I have seen 80% injector duty on stock sequential turbos at 1 bar boost (that was with streetport and full supporting mods).

you need 550/1680

91 octane and 375cc of water held 20psi on my GT3574 just fine. with 675cc of water on that setup EGT's hovered around 1600F pre turbo
