Before you think you should run more boost, I would look at a compressor map for that turbo. By running it at a higher boost level, might make the turbo not as efficient as it could be. Some turbos have a "sweet spot" at lower PSI than others and vice versa.

A lot of people could benefit from what you know, and we in return could help you with your computer skills

Thats a deal. last year I had some bad experienceses on the supra forum, and decided to stop all forums, until I wrote in here. Everybody has been respectful, suportive and best of all leave their egos at the door . This teaches me again not to judge others by some peoples actions. TXX Ralph

IMO, the "sweet spot" for that turbo would be between 20-25 psi.

Ralph!
The low and midrange is as good as a non turbo motor, that is in off boost conditions. I've always ran high compression rotors in boosted motors. When you have been doing it as long as I've been long before even Mazda offered a turbo version you got to figure out how to get the job done.
As for the car you mention above it's a FC with a 13B-REW motor that is running 9.7:1 high compression rotors. The only reason I stopped at 26 psi was because the boost controller would not give any more.
Normaly I would go till the injectors are at 100% duty cycle which normally is around 590 to 610 RWHP with the 720/1600cc combination on this car. One thing that's a given with high compression rotors are that they require less fuel to make the same power. The 8.4:1 TII rotors always require the most fuel.
The car made 556 RWHP/419 RWTQ at 26.5psi.
The owner's first run ever on the car next day at the track was an 11.24@132mph with a 2.056 60 ft time on 18" BFG drag Radials.

Yeh I thnk its time to up the compression for better in town driving he he. Well cris, I think its also time for water injection for cooling. What do you think and would you have to use alcohol with it or not. Just for extra
margine on long road pulls etc.?

Trust me when you start running the cool stuff you will never turn back.
The adavntages of a cool mixture is unbelievable!
Since my conversion to 100% methanol I've been hooked. Methanol and rotaries is a combination made in heaven.

Ralph has been here all along, I guess he is the Northwest's best kept racing secret lol. He is a very knowledgeable guy and I plan on letting him have at the tuning on my next race RX-7 however I haven't gotten the opportunity to meet him in person yet. He is very well respected by the rotary community in Oregon and Washington.

Hey chris , I never heard how the alcohol motor turned out . I think the last i read you had maxed out 4X1600 and were going for 8? What amazes me is how much volume of alcohol is needed to generate high HP. Icemaster thx for the compliment, I ljust love what I do and enjoy the people the most.

Ralph, you're probably gonna need another one of those monster fuel pumps if you run alcohol...rotaries are alcoholics

The thing I like about Ralph is that he'll spend the time to make your car right. He does'nt rush you out the door. Last time I had my n/a 1990 Rx-7 at his shop we spent 3hrs plus fine tuning it. It came in putting down 148rwhp. By the time we left it was putting down 167rwhp. Now 19rwhp does'nt sound like alot....but when you're talking about a non turbo 6 port engine....its quite a bit of differece. I'm yet to see anyone make 167rwhp on a mustang dyno with a n/a 2nd gen. For reference sake, the RX-8 puts out 172-178hp on a Mustang dyno.

http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.ph...5&pagenumber=8

So, 167hp on an NA 2nd gen is very nice indeed!

Ralph, any updates on what you found when you tore down the motor?, and if so, what will be done differently to correct the problem.

Right now weh are in the process of casting a new lower intake manifold
complete with 4 secondary injector bosses, larger runners, equal length,
capable of porting for other intake diameters etc. We are mainly trying
to get the bottleneck out of the manifold so as to equal the flow from
the front rotor to the rear. At high boost the rear is a lot leaner, and with
the PFC we can only adjust the injectors a little bit to componsate. We figure if we fix the flow problem and add two more 1600s we can boost
to 35 psi or better. The manifold will be available after trial on our two cars and then we might redo the top. Time will tell. Hey crispeed I am going to try rx8 rotors and limit boost to 30psi, lets see how they
hold up on the street.!!!!!!!!!!!!yeeehaaa
