1987 TII streetport fresh rebuild.

first and foremost i am posting in "single turbo rx7s" because it is an s4 TII however it does have nearly all emissions equipment removed and a Turbonetics T04 turbo installed rather than the stock turbo set up. The car has 850cc primary and secondaries and runs on the stock ECU.

I recently completed my first rebuild of my engine after a long summer and today i went to start it for the first time. I followed as much first start up advice on forums as i could find and went through every little detail before cranking. The engine actually fired right up and began to smoke as most forums would suggest. While this is all extremely good news to me the car would not idle at all and id have to feather the throttle to keep it running. I understand how complicated this issue can be but I am looking for solutions that may help my car idle on its own. AFR is around 12.0 at low RPM and OIL Pressure gauge is pegged over 100 but reads in the 20-30s while key is in on pos.

The first Question on my mind would be if the stock s4 TII ECU would most likely be causing these idle problems

Secondly what are the first things to check while trying to fix idle issue.

any help is appreciated, I will be searching the forums today to find any threads that may help.

Without at minimum a piggyback fuel controller, I am amazed it runs at all. The stock injectors are 550 cc/min, and you have 850cc/min. You are dumping roughly 55% more fuel into the engine than the ECU thinks.

You'll need to sort that out: S-AFC, F-Con or R-TEK on the cheaper end, full standalone on the better, and more expensive, end.

@scathcart Standalone was the plan all along. Ive been thinking of setting up an Adaptronic PnP ecu for s4. My reasoning is that while it does have a bunch of features, im not looking for too much out of my build. the plan would be to make ~350 whp on pump gas. I know this ECU has the capabilities to reach my power goals as well as my hardware. My only question is whether or not there is a better option out there? im looking for a reliable simple street car nothing too crazy.

Also to anybody that has knowledge to this. while starting the engine most of my gauge figures looked okay but, my oil pressure gauge pegged out over 100psi. Im worried the oil system is obstructed in some way. when i built the engine i was very meticulous and cleanly, but it is worth noting that i installed a brand new FD oil pressure regulator and used an atkins thermal pellet
