if anything was broken or swapped i woulda said it. the interior is in fine shape, no tears or anything. everything works except the idle. he has all maintenance records, and the title is clear.

what do you mean it won't idle? it doesn't hold an idle or it just has idle quirks? It could be just as simple as a vacuum leak.

Whatever it is... you're probably looking at a rebuild with this car very soon.

yes if it pulls strongly and has more than 80psi compression, no if not.

$2500 bux is your anti into the TII game. Not bad......just understand, you need to spend another grand to put a rebuild into the motor.

If you want a daily driver and you only own a 146 piece mechanics tools set from K-mart then, no, it is not for you

If you have the passion for a super quick car adn are willing to put up with the fact that your going to have to watch Bruce Torringtons boring rebuild video 29 times over....then yea, a nice clean TII for $2500 bux would be great.

I would offer a lower price, I just bought my '87 TII for $2500 but it only had 85000 miles on it, and I was the second owner

Could be, but the MUCH more likely cause is vacuum leak. If the car runs smooth, starts easily and has good acceleration, the Buy It. Two & a half large is a good price and I can almost promise you that the idle problem is vacuum leak.
And, very likely it's in the plenum from the AFM to the Turbo Intake. It has a habit of splitting and you'll never get it to idle with air leaking in ANYwhere past the AFM.

I couldn't DISagree with this more. My '87TII has over 211,000 HARD drivin miles and still runs like a top. I drive over the continental divide in Colorado twice a week and drive it around town daily without incident or problem. Speed limits are 75Mhp on the Interstate, and 15 over is tolerated, so i don't baby it.

You may have to rebuild piston engines after 75,000 miles, but a rotary is just starting.

This is my daily driver, and I tinker with it on an occasional weekend. My tools are from Sears mostly, but I have far from a fully equipped shop.

on Bruce's video; *I* found it quite fascinating - granted he's no Richard Simmons, but I wasn't expecting to be entertained. The information is well worth the 40 bucks and I gained a much better understanding of our rotary engines.

you couldn't be more wrong, piston engines don't really need rebuoilding after any miles because they aren't a seal oriented as rotaries, and my engine needs a rebuild at only 94 thousand babied miles, if you have 211k miles, then you'r engine has been rebuilt twice, or once and needs another one soon. Do a compression check and I bet you'll se your car is only making 80% of it's poer, you could be a lucky one with superdee duper apex and side seals. Also constant RPM doesn't dammage it was much as the change in RPM so cruising 85 IS babying an rotary engine. You may actually have the original engine, but It's not at it's top, or makes full compression, or isg onig to last much longer, or was drivin as hard as you say, or maybe it's turbo isn't killing it with boost. MY main disagreement howver is this:

you almost never have to rebuild a piston engine at 75k miles or even 180k miles, and for rotaries taken well care of 70k is about 5/9 of it's life, just above halfway.
