13B-NA 4 port /Bridge port w/nos advice

I figure I will get more advice by posting this here.

I am building a 13b 4 port bridge port engine.

I am using a turbo engine with s5 na rotors.

Also planning on using Turbo intake with some mods.

Will be Haltech powered.

Using NO2.

Will 2mm seals be good enough? If yes which kind and why?

Any advice other than seeking mental health professionals and this is a waste of time greatly appreciated.

There are some people running High boost and NOS on 2 mm seals (stock or hurley) you just have to make sure you dont detonate. I personally know a guy thats running a bridge ported 12a motor with 150 hp nos running 2mm stock seals. He runs mid 11. sec by the way. There is also a member of this forum with an rx7 running a similar setup as to what you are talking about. PM me for contact numbers and info

Might want to check this thread

We just had a similar post on 2mm vs 3mm, a guy on there is getting 8 second passes from 2mm seals and no dowelling.

Greg, there is no problem with what you wan't to do.

2mm stock ones, will handle over, well over 700bhp in a 13B ...very reliably and with the best sealing with least friction, resulting in more power.

There are MANY guys in PR who run carbon seals for ultra high revs, they have specific limits. The limit being no more combustion pressure than 2.0MPA

Hence they all stage their NOS untill they feed in the full amount at near max revs. This in practical terms ecuates to the following limits.

4000rpm max power = 233bhp
5000rpm max power = 292bhp
6000rpm msx power = 350bhp
7000rpm max power = 409bhp
8000rpm max power = 467bhp
9000rpm max power = 536bhp
9500rpm max power = 555bhp

Now max power, is the engine running N/A + NOS...you will need to dyno the engine N/A and see what power you make in the following rpm ranges...then add the right amount of NOS so that you do not EXCEED those power limits at those RPM listed, hence you will not exceed the pressure limit of the seals (in this case carbon)

Ferrous 2mm seals have a BMEP limit of around 4MPA and hence at 4000 rpm you could run up to 430bhp (N/A + NOS) and not break the seal due to excessive combustion pressure.

Oh my friggin, holy crap, are those nubers for real. I was expecting like 200hp max out of this thing. That is craaaaaazzzzzzzyyyyyy!
Me like.
Now I just need to put togueter a budget.

Think I will run the steel seals.
Thanks for the help RiceRacing.

THe budget is the hardest thing Greg. Its me! Bridgeported 12a/inner seal rotorhousing coolant leak. 13b better have more then 200hp or something is wrong!

Hey, could any of you experts look over my post "A different kind of porting question" in the Rotary Performance section? *nudge-RICE*

Sorry to butt-in on your post, dude.

I'm interested in doing a carb intake manifold on my 6port with NOS, any suggestions. Porting, etc. What needs to be done if I do NOS and eliminate EFI. This will be used for drag racing. It's my 88 GXL. I already got a motor out for being built. Or should I go outboard ECU and will that get me daily driveability.

Thanks, Rishie
