Smile 12A Turbo Cars...

Almost all the cars and talk on here is about 13B or 20B FI Turbo Motors.... Anyone have an impressive 12A Carbureted Turbo car? I know Rob does or did.... I'm going this route when I return from Iraq. So if no one posts his or her car on here ill be doing so in a while. I just want to see some setups to get a better Idea what im going to have to do.

The few 12A turbos I have seen ran pretty small setups.

I had a 12a turbo with a blow through Nikki side draft. It was S2 12a with a S4 turbo running 10psi.

It was peppy but nothing to make you **** your pants.

does everyone just go with the 13b just because its easier and they are already set up for it? Or because they all want FI?

Well both setups are going to cost about the same if you go with the standard fabricated and off the shelf parts. and going with the a 13B setup over the 12A setup will net AT LEAST 10%-12% more power. That larger power potential translates into a more reliable setup if both setups are evaluated at the same power level.

Nice car. What kind of power were you making? And also what were your 1/4 mile times if you ever ran it at the track?

ON

How would this set up be for road racing?? I have a couple of extra 12a's and I'm thinking about going turbo if it is reasonably reliable.

I have an 85 gs, street ported 12a. Freshly rebuilt.... New custom made exhaust with racing beat header...2.5 in. ( will need to go to 3 in.) Intake and 47 OER carb kit from The Shack. Blaster two coils. Ultra racing beat wires. Racing beat pulley kit. Centerforce dual friction clutch. All energy suspension bushings. rear disc conversion with lsd. steel braided brake lines. and others i cant remember. going to go with a turbo from robert and intercool it. blowthrough the OER and hopefully run 14 psi. Roberts says it should be safe and can make 400 hp easily. Ive just been doing alot of research and reading since im new to the turbo thing so when i get back home ill be ready to tear into it. I'm getting excited!
