So I do full non-sequential conversion.. still have my problem.

Hey everyone,

A little background can be found here

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/questions-about-going-non-sequential-342481/

So now, I've done the FULL non-sequential conversion MINUS the internal turbo work. For now, the TCA flapper is wired open.

MY boost pattern now is 8, slowely creeps to maybe 9-9.5 by redline in third with boost set to reach 12 psi.

Basically, since I have so little vacuum lines left, I ruled out a leak as a possible solution.

What Im thinking, which is what I'd like some feedback on, is I think my problem actually just originated from old, tired turbos. I have 93k miles on my turbos, and with my new Tial BOV which causes minor compressor surge, I think they just bit the dust.

Thats really the only thing I could think of that would be my boost problem.

Anyone have any other solutions?

Thanks alot,

Steve

If you ever took off your turbos did your wastegate flapper fully cover the wastegate opening or were there large cracks allowing exhaust to bypass? You may simply be bypassing too much exhaust. I found my wg flapper had moved on the shaft and needed adjustment to center up with the wg hole.

Other idea (if your wg was internally ok) is to wire your wg closed and carefully do a pull while watching your boost ... get outta the throttle before it blows. If your boost is going higher than before and above your desired setpoint you have a wg actuator or boost control issue.

well, it all happened in an instant, one run I had 12-10-12, the nex trun I had 8-6-8... I know it really wouldnt matter how much m,y wastegate opened, for with it fully opened it USED to creep to 12ish psi.

Do you have a cat on your car? A partially plugged cat will cause a lack of high boost.

Well, I guess the stock spring in the stock bov is 3 pounds. The Tial bov is a 7 pound spring, and it looks like it doesnt open up quite as easily. There are reports of compressor surge and people swapping out to lighter springs.

I dont have any cats on my car.

Yup, I had this problem on my car. Boost builds very slowly and sometimes not at all. Eventually it blocked completely and the car wouldn't accelerate supprisingly!

I fixed this with a midpipe Boost heaven again!

Soo.. You're screwed . J/K. Have you check for a boost leak anywhere? It sounds like either a boost leak or a leaking wastegate flapper.

Yeah, I'd guess boost leak. The only way to properly find one is to pressure test the system with an air compressor or portable air tank.
