Well duhhh....

if we are the rotary enthusiasts that we say we are, then hell yea lets have another one...
If anything they need to have a Sevenstock East coast and West coast...But I guess if funding or what ever is a problem then just have one and keep the tradition up...
Here an idea of mine (hate it or not)... Have the large gathering Sevenstock in Ca, but in addition to that have a smaller cross country promotional extravaganza...This might help other people become more familar with the rotary and also give people the opportunity to see a part of what Sevenstock is all about...Feel free to criticize and/or critique this--Just my 2 cents!

Have it at Laguna Seca.
Mandatory gate fee.
Saturday for car show and vendors, maybe racing...
Sunday for racing and maybe vendors.
The weather is great there in late summer and fall.
Lots of room for growth.

Laguna has tons of campgrounds (can be a real party) and the area has plenty of hotels. Embassy Suites less than 10 minutes away can host the banquet and be the Sevenstock hotel.

Sound could pose a problem on the track with us rotorheads though.
However, my car is too loud there and I just lift at the meter station and don't have a problem.

Pick up where Winter Wankel Wonderland left off.

one more time....

Who would take all of the cool Mazda race cars to vegas (budget)... I'll tell you there is no money to move cars from the Mazda R&D center to another venue. Insurance, transportation, employee time, etc... what about all of the cool "old schools RX's from So-Cal. They're not going to trek 5-6 hours north to MRLS... and they are a very integral part of the event.

Laguna is cool for an event, but just not SevenStock!

Oh yea... all the organizers are from So-Cal too...

I put together the ALL MAZDA TRACK DAY last year to take up where WWW left off...

So Berny, just to recap the parameters are...

1.) Proximity to the Los Angeles / San Diego area.
2.) Location that is automotive freindly.
3.) Room for up to 5000+.
4.) Low cost of entry.

Pretty much so....

5.) local hotels
6.) easy location to reach from international destinations
7.) where the budget dictates.

Thanks all!!

Bern, has anyone tried to get permission to hold an event over at those old large blimp hangers at El Toro? Probably not a feasible idea but it is close to MNAO.

Yes, we have looked at it... and I've mentioned it many times in other strings over the years.... but to recap for you, and others... availability, security, rental and insurance cost being the main obstacles.

Thanks for the idea!

Sevenstock is at Mazda R&D in Irvine ............ Period!!!
If you want to organize a rotary gathering in Florida, that's a great idea. Just name it something else. It can't be sevenstock

You guys are going to freak a bit... but we've been trying to get something together in Florida for a few years now, with the Mazda Rotary Car Club of Florida, but some internal issues at the club and its membership have stopped this effort for now.... if we had the $$ and the support, we would do it, but it wouldn't be exactly like the events held at the Mazda R&D Center in Irvine.

For now, the event stays in So-Cal.... make it your destiny to attend this year!!!

Which Century !?

I think this whole thing is going to have to hurt someone in the wallet, and that someone should probably be Mazda, us rotary owners don't just buy new RX-8's etc... god knows we need a new motor every so often, and parts are a huge source of revenue for a Automobile Manufacturer.
This is going to have to be one of those, "Write the President, and your Congressman thing" so someone post a name and address of the guy who can make this happen, and then go complain to your local Mazda dealer.
Say something nice though, not something like "Goddamit you old coot, freaking go to your Mazda distributor and kick someone in the pants."
But try and sugar coat it, with something, like, "I come by here on a regular basis (even if you don't) and spend some serious cash (point to your baby, that you'd want to bring to SS) and I'd like to know why I should go and abandon all this, and go with another manufacturer/dealer, since obviously Mazda no longer cares what happens to my hobby."

That should get you started, and I bet if they see the financial implications of this they'll not only hold it, maybe they'll give away cars

US AZ guys are with you where ever it is!

We love driving out in caravan to LA. Give us a chance to see water and meet other rotorheads!

I've gone the last two years and it has been incredible.

I'd like to Thank the So-Cal guys for throwing this together. I understand why you had questions on if it would continue. It's grown so big that it take lots of time and money to get right.

You've done an incredible job and US AZ guys will alway support you.
I know you try and keep this free(and generate money via raffle) but if needed I doubt anyone woudl bitch about a couple bucks to enter. Maybe just selling tickets for special main lot parking?

October would be fine for us since the temperatures through the desert are a little cooler so we can try and use the AC on the way there
