I was thinking, maybe we ought to start up our own forum. Carolinarx7s.com or something of that sort. They already have carolinahondas.com and corolinanissans.com. Is anybody interested?

I don't know if it would be worth the effort, Steve. People are more likely to stumble upon these threads in the SE forum than find a brand new site. Also I bet lots of people will still post on here and there will be trouble migrating to a new one.

Nah, it was a sick black hard top. There was also an orangish GT riding with it but that guy was nowhere near keeping up.

I think a carolinmazda.com may work but I don't think we could find enough rx7's to keep that going. There could just be sub-directories with anything from Protoge's to rx7's.

Heres the link to the 20B Rx-8 that I was talking about last night....acosta motor sports

I think thats the only way I would take an 8

Anyways...I'm doing some research on the bank that the lien is held under on the FD sitting behind Millennium....it was called First North American Credit....From what I've read its Carmax's financing division...its called Carmax Financing now...seems to fit the history...since it was bought from the Carmax on hwy 70 in Raleigh...I'm gonna try to go up there in the morning afterwork and see if I can find someone to talk to about the lien thats on the car.

It was on e-bay for sale a year or so ago....they didn't get what they wanted for it. I think it cost them about 75k+ to build........I mentioned last night that they wanted like 35k for it....but I think I got confused...and that was what the bid had gotten up to...and the reserve hadn't been met.

Sorry, I missed the meet again I am still carless for most part. 7 is down, Fiero is wrecked.

Anyhow, the Integra fell through. Guy came back with some story about how this guy offered him MORE than his asking price for the car. Either way the car was overpriced to start with and I wasn't gonna get into a bidding war over an integra of all cars. I went to see an Eclipse GST that supposedly had 55K on it, but looked like it'd done a tour in the sahara. I think I am gonna give in and be responsible, I am looking at a Cherokee instead of another car. I found a good clean one with low miles I am probably gonna pick up. It'll be a good party wagon. I'll try not to bring it to any of the meets, unless my 7 is dead.

Taylor, you sure it was an 04? there are a few posers out there with GTs or older Cobras putting the 03-04 fronts and rears on. if it was the fool must of just gotten his license. I know your 7 is fast, but you know they are putting down 375RWHP from factory and only takes an intake and catback to get em up to 400-410RWHP and a pulley and chip take em to the 460-470RWHP range. As you prob know my bro has an 03, that is why I am so surprised that you both walked him, especially from a roll. Not doubting the kill, just that it seems like an 04 should have given you a very good run. Personally, I think your 7 is faster than you are telling us Now cough up the real deal on the FD!

hope everyone has a good week.

-Josh (gotta start signing these things. since I don't go the meets any more people are gonna forget my name )

i have purchased 3 fd's from carmax's wholesale lot. i used to work there so i could. i will hear about it if another fd ens up in the back. i will keep you updated if it does. more than likely it will be bought by an employee unless it is a repo. if its a repo, it has to go to their auction held every other tuesday. if you have a dealer friend he can go register for the auctions at the store.

Nah....Its not behind Carmax...it was bought and financed through carmax almost 10 years ago....

Boy did I just stir up a hornets nest fellas......I just got off the phone with the REAL owner of the car.....man is she pissed off. She told me she went to Millennium Mazda to get the A/C checked on because it wasn't working....and she says that Mazda said something else was wrong with the car...she told them to go ahead and fix it ...well they didn't know what to do with it...so she said they sent it to a rotary specialist in raleigh...(clean and fast???) Well I guess the car was still having problems and MM was charging her a bill for over 5k..... She got a lawyer and the lawyer told her to leave it there.....her lawyer never got it settled... so there it sits. And get this.......the car is all payed off....she says she has the title. I asked her if I could take it off her hands for a small fee....she said "how much is a small fee" But then I fucked up by telling her what kind of shape its in....Oh boy.....When I told her it was missing engine parts she flipped.... I think shes on her way right now down to MM...and I think shes gonna try and get it towed. I told her that with the condition the car is in now....it woudln't be practical for her to send this car to a rotary shop for them to fix up.....she would be spending wayyyy too much $...( i'm trying to get her to sell it cheap to me!) Anyways....I'm gonna try and get up a little early tonight for work and give her a call back and see what went on....Maybe .... I can convince her to sell it to me cheap....maybe not....wish me luck fellas!

Oh.. and what got me to call the owner is that I went up to carmax this morning to talk about the lien that was still on the car....I went to the business desk and she told me I would have to call Carmax Financing. She says I can use the phone right there and to just ask for a supervisor..... Well I talk to this other lady on the phone and she wants all this information on the owner...I'm like I'm not related nor am I the owner...so shes says that she can't help me unless I get the owners permission...sheeesshhhh So I come home from carmax and look through the title history and I'm lucky enough to find her #.......still the same since 95!

Oh and if she is the owner of the car ( has title in hand) then sport durst and them fools up at Millennium Mazda have been giving everyone(including me)the run around .....Saying it still has a lien on it.....uhhhh....Well I'm just hoping she wants to get rid of it and I can take it off her hands.

The lien is probably from MM for the $5K they tried to rip off from her and then, like Rick said Saturday night, they want their storage fee. What she needs to do is get complete photographs of the car in its present condition and the initial estimate she got from MM. I hope she didn't give them the go ahead to fix the car without getting an estimate of repairs needed and charges. The trouble you're now gonna have is with MM. If they are crooked enough to rip her off for an AC fix and then steal parts from her car and leave it outside then they got no reason to work with you or be honest about what they have done to it and what damage they did. I'm surprised that they haven't sued her for the repairs and storage unless their case won't stand up in court. She should sue her lawyer for malfeasance for not settling this for her and suing them for fraud. If a grass fire just happened in that back lot and destroyed her car could she sue them and recover the value of the car?

We all now know not to do business with this outfit. Don't be saying too much bad about Clean & Fast, at least he is honest and will help you out.

Welcome noobie, we're always glad to have new people join this thread. How did you find out about it? I'm sure I speak for the whole group when I say welcome, and we all invite you to the Raleigh Rotary Drive-ins we hold on the second and fourth Saturday's at 6:30 PM at the Char Grill on Strickland Road in north Raleigh. We don't require that you own a rotary powered car to join us, only that you are fanatically devote to the rotary engine design and will strive to own one someday. I beleive that our next event is scheduled for October 9th.

lol, i guess i have been MIA. just seems like one problem after the other. i was up in VA looking at that Eclipse GST on Saturday, thought I would make it back on time, but didnt get back into town til 9ish.

Hopefully, my 7 should be back up and running, but if not i will walk, run, hitchhike, paddle and ride a mule to the next meet.

Sounds like i missed a nice turnout.

Yeah Josh, I was absolutely positive it was an '04. Not only did I recognize it as that but my friend Mike (he was out there with a modded Red T/A) told me it was an '04 before I even mentioned the year. He's REALLY big into his domestics, his dad drives a z06 and they use to have a big bad chevelle. The thing was completely stock except for rims. Maybe thats why i got him, not by much I might add.

BTW - Did anything interesting happen after I left Saturday night? I really wanted to see those Supras do something. (Couldn't believe that Brian, the one with the white Supra, was my TA in calc III at State)

Yeah man, we lined up his Supra gainst my GXL out on 540. He pulled me in first an second, but by the time we hit 3rd, i was gaining on him. By the time we hit 6th going about 185, i was about 2 car lengths ahead. We decided to slow down shortly after that. I think it must be my exhaust leak giving me the extra HP. Either that, or its because black is so darn quick.

Pictures from Saturday's Drive-In

OK, photobucket was taking new photos tonight. Here are some shots from Saturday's Drive-In. Pardon the quality but it gets dark earlier and earlier and we weren't parked in the best light. Next meet we'll move over to the Home Depot parking lot and reserve a section under the overhead lighting.

This was a night for beautiful cars the 8s and the FCs were the stars of the drive-in and those cars with the funny engines were also represented with a couple of Supras, Mike's Firebird, and a Mustang Salleen amoung others:

This is Raven's 88 FC from Wilmington:

This is Greg's 91 Turbo II:

Here are the Toyota reps and the Salleen in the background:

Here is what that supra looked like in Steve's rearview mirror. I took it just after he'd shifted down into 6th:

Here is Jag's 8 coming up fast in the other lane:

and here is one of Joey's new FB:

It was a great time and seriously the next drive-in will gather in the HD parking lot. Hope y'all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Bert

you gotta let me ride in your 7 one time, Taylor. I think you are underestimating your HP. The only reason i asked if you were sure it was an 04 is because essentially the only difference between the earlier years and the 04 is the front and rear fascias. i know a couple of guys with '00 and '01 that are posing with the newer front and rear but dont have the supercharger to back it up (though i do know one guy with an 01 running a paxton and NOS who is faster than most things on the road, but he lives out towards burlington) it's kind of like putting a TII hood on an NA. if done right you wouldnt be able to tell the difference except in horsepower or if you popped the hood. hope you didnt take it the wrong way, i didnt mean to make it sound like i was pulling the BS flag.
