The weekend of April 27-29 will herald the return of one of VIR's biggest events, the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve VIR 400. The Rolex Sports Car Series is the fastest-growing professional sports car racing series in the world, and VIR has been a mainstay on the schedule in recent years. In 2007 the exotic Daytona Prototypes and the production-based GT cars will have separate 400k races. The 2006 race included one of the most exciting race finishes in series history, one that was dubbed “The Rolex Moment of the Year.” The Rolex Sports Car Series will be joined for the first time by the brand-new SunTrust Moto ST Series, an endurance-racing series for twin-cylinder, four-stroke motorcycles, which will stage a 500km race. Also joining the VIR 400 weekend for their first time at VIR will be the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and the Skip Barber National Championship Series.

Who would be down for a trip up to VIR that weekend??? I definately plan on going to cheer on the Speedsource Team and to get Sylvain Tremblay and Nick Hamm to autograph my car! I believe the pricing was $50 for the weekend. Looks like Sat. is the day to be there...all qualifying is that day and the GT race starts at 4:30pm. Sounds like a huge weekend!!!
Sweet, count me in.

Pulled that off the thread in the lounge. Haven't heard anything else yet.

Good to know he's getting better.

On the note about RX-8s...Liz called me earlier and said her neighbor just bought a new RX-8, and this was the FIRST TIME SHE'S SEEN ONE! I was like "uh, they came out in 04 ya know?", HAHA. She said when she drove by she thought "hey that looks like Eric's car", sounds like the only thing she saw was "RX-8", haha.

Looks like Eric's car...um yeah...the RX-8 looks like it ATE an FD and gained a few pounds. (Hey, I still think they are sexy cars.)

Hey Phil, I didn't say I agreed with her, haha. I don't think they look alike at all, which is why I thought it was funny that she thought it looked like mine, haha. I'm still just shocked that she's never seen one, although I still think she has.

And don't you mean it looks like it 8 an FD? har dee har har

I don't see an FE looking like an FD... I guess I can see a resemblance between an FC and an FB and maybe an FC and FD in some ways but not to the point she is on those two.

Now a Miata and an FD I could see..... hah!!!

I know I know I recently purchased a RB dual tip and the guy forgot to include the hanger for that side. He is supposed to be sending it to me, 3 weeks later, still no hanger. Anyone got a spare one??

^Not me bro, sorry.

Ya know, I almost waited to get ahold of an air compressor to start this job, now I wish I had, haha. I got both front assemblies off last night and got them completely apart today. I started on the left rear corner tonight, and the first freakin nut won't come off, haha. The one bolting the bottom of the coilover in. I didn't think I had tightened it that much. Now the edges are starting to get rounded off, so I'm either gonna get one of those fancy Craftsman wrenches that puts pressure on the sides, OR get someone's portable air compressor and I'll get that bitch off, haha. After getting everything apart I'm taking them to one of three places and sandblasting them (might as well while they're off), then I'll get the old bushings out and the new ones in (I only hope it's that easy), put the new steering rack boots on, get everything back together and get an alignment again. OOOOooohh I can't wait!

Any interest?
Sunday, March 18th - Random back road drive. Thinking in the general NorthEast from Raleigh direction.
So meet at SuperTarget parking lot at 9:00am (time negotiable) and head out shortly after for a bit of driving.

Damn Gary, you're really pressing me to get these bushings in, HAHA. Actually, I SHOULD be able to get the bushings in, now I'll just be waiting on new parts again. One of the guys from my shop that helped me today ended up messing up the lower arm camber bolt on the driver's side, and I'm going to rethread the bolt but being a suspension part I'm leery about putting it back in there half-assed. Not to mention that I need new nuts for the bottom of the rear struts since they're both rounding off. BUT, if I have the bushings in and everything is good, you KNOW I'm gonna be there. I gotta try out these new bushings, YEE-HAW!!!

I might be up for attending that race too, looks like fun!

I'm in for the drive...I have to meet an rx8club member at Triangle Town Center at 3 to sell my appearance package. Maybe 10 am though, 9 would be a little early for me and Keri to get up there. Just a thought.

Also, I'm waiting on an email from Sylvain Tremblay about possibly getting a pit pass from SpeedSource during the VIR 400 in April!!! I also asked if it were possible to get the team to sign my dash...hopefully I hear something soon!

Nic I was about to refer to you as a young girl because of the dash autograph, haha. Then I remembered that Isami Amemiya will be in NC for a drifiting event this year, and I'm going to do the same thing, haha. Well, I won't have him sign my dash (only because it's an old dash, haha), but I'll probably clean up my rotor and have him sign that. WOOHOO!!! Who's going with me to the event to stalk Amemiya-san?

Eric, where is that event going to be and when?

Looks like we may have a few events we might want to hit at VIR and elsewhere this year.
