Dave, does that mean you are gonna sell it for $1500?

Macdaddy I appreciate the offer, but I have seen a couple of sets already and autoleathers said they can get ahold of the OEM hide. So, I am fairly comfortable that they will fit well and look stock. On another note, quit slacking and come by one of the drive-ins I mean, geez, less than a mile and not coming over. hehe, just kidding with ya.

I am gonna put the leather on order, with the suspension to follow within the next couple of weeks.

Also, I thought about just having an upholstery shop do a patch job on my leather, but I haven't seen any of those that matched really well; looked OEM. Anybody know a good upholstery shop?

I've had several leather patch jobs done by Gresham Lake Upholstery and they did a nice job for a good price. It all depends on how well they can match the leather - if they have some in stock that you can see, it's an easy decision. It's hard to spring for a whole hide and have the chance of being stuck with it if it doesn't match as well. I've also had some nice work done by Auto Tops and Interiors (next to 42nd Street Oyster Bar downtown) - but not patch work.

As far as the drive-ins, I'm not a very good spectator - many of the weekend drive-ins I've been racing or instructing in driving schools. Priorities differ, but I'd rather be doing it than talking about it.

thats cool. i think we can definitely understand that you'd rather be at the track than at a meet. Thanks for the advice on the leather shops. I think I've made up my mind to just go for the whole reupholstery, especially since it will be OEM hide. You only go around once anyways. if you ever happen to have a weekend where you are not at the track swing on by to one of the meets.

the 2jz-gte is an awesome engine, hell the supra is an awesome car, period. but a supra engine in a FD, I am not too fond of that idea.

Yea, I see where your coming from, but iyou see how fast a 1000hp supra is and the car is almost 1k lbs. heavier than the rx7. Then imagine the rx7 with 1000hp , that would be doin some serious neck breaking.

Question: how do I get my emoticon list to show up? Ever since they upgraded i cant used them anymore , and my " Disable smilies in text" box isn't checked.

Replacing a rotary engine with a V-6 or V-8 is kinda like being possessed by satan. Remember that "Power corrupts and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely!" The purity and beauty of a rotary engine being replaced by all those little moving parts just makes my skin crawl. Its like Pamela Anderson getting another boob job, giving all of the Osbourne's a functional brain, and Cher having more cosmetic surgery - it just defies all logic.

Triangle FD owners:
I've installed StopTech brakes on my FD, which required going up to 17"wheels. I no longer need and am selling the OEM wheels (w/ tires) and the OEM front brakes (calipers/rotors/pads) + SS brake lines from my FD on eBay Motors. Item #'s: 7915229418 & 7915228302. The auction will end this Sat night. I'm willing to deliver to Triangle area if someone is interested and doesn't want to pay shipping.

I'd buy the SS brake lines from you if you wanted to split it up... although it look like you already have a bid on it on ebay. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Hey guys,

What is the healthy compression rate for 13B motor?
What is the minimum compression rate to keep 13B motor running?
What kind of compression is healthy enough to handle HP increase related modification?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Andy

Hey Andy, this is a good question for Ashraf, Taylor, Rick, or Josh but since I'm not them I went to the 3rd Gen forum and did a search. This reply is from Rotary Resurrection, a rotary shop in Tennessee with a good rep.
"To approximate psi from the mazda tester, multiply the results by 14.7.

90psi and up is a decent engine, but turbo rotaries are very good at turning 90psi into zero. 100 and up is healthy. 110+ is very strong...120+ is like new. Below 90, you're on borrowed time.

Oh, I rebuild engines for a living, so I know what Im talking about "

Hope this helps and see you at the drive-in on Saturday?

I saw pics of that car , its burnt to hell.

nctii87- a guy in raleigh has a 1000hp supra that he drives to the track, races it and drives it home. He drives the car every week too with no problems.

Hey guys, how much are the JDM T2 engine and trannys going for? I am going to have to replace the engine in my FB and I am thinking of upgrading instead of just a rebuild, not sure how bad it will be to do the swap but it I know it is possible.

Bert,

Thanks for your quick feedback and research. I will check with Ashraf later on this issue as well. As far as Saturday meeting, it will depend on the weather. I heard there are 2 hurricanes coming this way, 1 arrive on Friday and the other one on Saturday....Hope the rain will keep at minimum.....

yea the weather looks horrid for Saturday, maybe it will hit in the morning and clear up by the afternoon.

Andy, the engine isn't gonna last forever, either way, so you might as well blow it up. Build it carefully, but I wouldn't let the condition of the engine stop you, unless you are gonna do a rebuild before doing mods.

I was out and about yesterday and saw several 7s out and about. 2 1st Gens and 2 2nd Gens. I didnt get a chance to stop any of them, but they all looked in very good shape. I saw a red FC vert on Capital around 1ish, a blue-gray FC behind me on Glenwood that turned off on Creedmoor, a cream color 1st gen right outside Crabtree, and a silver 1st Gen turning off Glenwood onto Lynn.

Yeah, the Weather Channel seems to indicate that the rain from Bonnie might taper off Saturday afternoon. I'll see what they're saying tomorrow before we know what to do about the Drive-in. If we decide to hold it, if we decide to have the meet we should definitely have it at the Wachovia Parking Deck.

Josh, Would you or someone else plan on being there a little before 6:30PM and I'll be at the Strickland Road Char Grill at 6:30 to direct anyone over to Blue Ridge Rd. I'll post definite location tomorrow as soon as I can find information about what the hurricanes will be doing on Saturday.
