Ummm... you're not thinking about going to VIR Friday are you? Not that I don't want to see your car running up there I just don't want to see it go...BOOM! Don't you need to break in that piston engine thingy for a few hundred miles before being tempted to push it? For sure bring it out Saturday night, can't wait to see and hear the old girl along with whoever you are...

Yeah , just have to park at the end of the line...

Nod, but I can't wait to see you be able to do that. I'm real curious what it will feel like to you once you can or how much different it will be right off having that kind of power and torque.

It wasn't meant to be tasteless, I meant that for real. I almost feel like I have a target on me. I agree with you though, of all the RX-7s, the FD is probably the least safe, even if mine does have dual airbags, they probably don't work anymore anyway, haha.

Thanks alot for the Birthday wishes Johny, now stop busting my *****, haha. I said I'm gonna try dammit, haha. Actually now that I've heard we can be doing upwards of 120mph, I'm SOOOO down. I'm actually thinking about skipping the dinner altogether if I have to.

Uh, no more screaming in my ride man, the squeel is gone, WOOHOO!! I'm thinking about mounting the camera behind the seats on the harness bar this time to see what it looks like. You can have your hands free that way too so you can hang half way out the window when we're doing 300mph, haha.

Do you work in an Air Force hospital? I have a good friend that's in the Air Force and works as a RT in their hospitals.
No, I'm a mechanic, but I do work on Pope AFB in the AF. Is your friend stationed down here?

Thanks Nic, but I'm not getting my FC for a while yet, so I guess I'll have to wait to move up to their ranks officially, haha. Will Wilford be at our next meet? I had no idea he was into RX-7s, I thought he only peddled Quaker Oats or Liberty Medical. Hmmm, learn something new every day.

I was just giving you some hell about the joke Eric. Haha. I'm gonna hang out the car with my tongue flapping around like a dog. A Jack Russell terrier. Or maybe a dauchsund.

Eric, the pace car won't be running 120 on the holiday laps... but (and I didn't say it) it could be done.

I guess I'll just have to wait for that much fun til the next HPDE then. Oh well. How much would the pace car driver need to get him to run?...not saying he would take a bribe, just trying to get a feel...HAHA.

Chin Motorsports this weekend, 9th and 10th. I'll be there for that Sunday and was there for the Porsche Club of America this past weekend and the Audi Club 2 weekends before that and then there's the US Kart GP runing the full course on the 15th and 16th... I spend too much time at VIR!!!!

Well for anywhere from 250 bucks on up he won't even be at the track.... but you'll have to wear a helmet the whole weekend at an HPDE... guess you'll just have to settle for running 90mph... settle hah! You'll be surprised how fast that is on the straights, then add Deals Gap excitement everywhere else. I'm serious, any faster and you need to have had an instructor in the car and/or be signed off to run solo.

They just won't go any faster due to insurance and a crap load of cars that aren't tech inspected to see if they should even be running more than 65mph on the track. I've seen a minivan lose it on parade laps running maybe 40mph coming out of the back straight to the roller coaster. And like Carl said there are a lot of sections that even if you're following someone it doesn't take much to get off line and lose it.

But anyways..... If you can make it I guarantee you'll have plenty of fun.

Well, the final nail was driven into the coffin this morning. At roll call we were notified the memorial service for our TSgt that passed this weekend will be Friday at 1400 and we're required to attend in our service dress, so you guys have a good time. Dammit, I really wanted to make this. And now we aren't even having dinner that night, we're having lunch instead. I'm so pissed.

So I guess I can save another $250 anyway Greg, haha. I know what you mean though. On the other thread when someone mentioned 120+ speeds, I got kinda nervous cause as much as I love speed, I've only been on that track for parade laps and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable taking some of those turns as fast as some would, I'd be afraid I'd be slowing everyone else down. I can understand why they won't take us any faster, it's a huge liability even letting us out on the track in the first place. That minivan though...DUH!!!! What the hell did they think they were driving? It shouldn't be out there in the first place for cryin' out loud!

MXs Refuse to Die... Need 4 Tires Toted to VIR this Weekend!

Help Folks...

Anybody from around Raleigh, or has to pass through Raleigh, going to be at the Chin HPDE at VIR this coming weekend...

Hard as I try I can't seem to kill these dang MXs I've been testing out... they definitely be giving up some traction, which is ok, I just have to work a tad harder to keep 'er on the track... but I wanna see some cord... so they need some more thrashing... ;)

Only way I can do that this upcoming weekend is if I can get some kind sole from this area to tote 4 tires to VIR for me... anybody from around here going up that wouldn't mind doing that... sure would appreciate it...

PM me if you wanna help...

That sucks. I wanted to ride in the silent SAM (or Batmobile) on the track. Anyone else need a passenger? I can hold a camera.

Found a nice drive today From SmithField to Trenton. From the NC Byways list I posted a ways back.
There were a handful good shard turns and sweeping turns, and 3 or 4 straight aways to get some nice speeds.

I took a couple pictures at the Cliffs of the Neuse National park, that I'll post after downloading them from my camera.

OK gals and fellers, you'll never believe how good a day this was for me. So I get back from Butner this afternoon, standing in my coworkers driveway in Lillington, and I look across the street and see this GORGEOUS 1973 RX-3. After I cleaned the **** outta my pants and said goodbye to my coworker, I trotted down the hill and had a chat with the owner. Oh, did I say owner, I meant ORIGINAL OWNER. That's right, he bought it brand new in 73, and this thing is pretty clean. I didn't have my camera but I took some pics on my phone, and the last time I tried to upload pics from my phone onto here they were too big (go figure!), so I'll show you guys this weekend. I told him you guys would love to see him at one of the meets, and although he's had some problems with the battery dying all the time, I think he might try to make it. Or maybe we could have a meet down here sometime and he wouldn't have to drive so far. I told him if he ever wanted to sell the car, either I'd buy it or I could find someone in the area that would take good care of it. I talked to him for about an hour about it, I was enamored.

Anyhoo, the second bit of good info...my Dad told me my uncle found another 7 on his property (he forgot he had it) so my Dad is going to try to pull that one out for me too, HAHA. He said he thinks it's another 1st gen. Oh, and the cop that lives across the street from Dad's garage said he wants to buy the red one, haha. NEVA!!!!

I'll see you guys Saturday. I think I'm gonna try to come up around noon or maybe a little sooner if I can get the short shifter and put it in that morning.

Eric, watch out... looks like David and I are your competition. hehe. We've got two right now... more to come eventually.

My FC is having some coolant issues. Feel free to put your .02 in on my thread in the 2nd gen section if you have suggestions.

EDIT: The new date for DGRR 07 is April 19-22
