That's your personalized license plate "FDCOWBOY". God Bless the American Cowboy! Or how about "COPSRGR8". We need you going with us tomorrow down I-40 to run interference with the NCHP. I now retail rules and we must have more cell phones.

David and I will see y'all in the morning for breakfast. But then we're taking care of some other things, including looking at a house in Wake Forest to rent when he gets back. YAY!!
If we get the house, we can start having cookouts/bbq's there for some of our RRDI meets. The landlord is a friend of Mary's, so we might be getting a good deal. Oh... and the main reason we want it, even though it's in frickin Wake Forest (Which is WAY too far away from everything I do), they built a 3 car garage out back.

3 car garage=possible install days? My crew of SRT's here in Hampton have installs days every couple weeks for anyone that wants to work on their cars...a 3 car garage with the size of their property would be AWESOME! So hopefully we can all look forward to that after I get out of the Navy

The reason my wife and I bought our place in Hillsborough is because it has property and lots of garage space. There is a 2-car (1-door) upstairs, and downstairs there are two doors and enough space to put maybe twleve (yes, 12!) FBs. It is good that we have the space since I have a 10AE project car, my SRX7, my wife's Alfa Romeo Spider racecar project, a project Triumph TR3, plus tools and benches. Plus we "need" space for other cars that need maintenance...

I picked up the RRDI shirts this morning and will have them at the next RRDI for pickup and payment. Anyone going to Wilmington and wants to have their shirt to wear, post up here or the RRDI shirts thread and let me know. I won't bring the shirt if you don't request it.
I'll also need full payment before I can give you a shirt so have your money if you didn't prepay.

OMG! We'd kill for a garage right now. I do a lot of woodworking projects, and right now, the driveway just off of the porch is my 'workshop'. Plus it would be nice to be able to park Cherrie
inside out of the elements.
Bert, you can bring the shirts for Beth and I when we meet up with you at CB tomorrow morning.

I can't wait for the first RRDI when everyone comes with the shirts on. We'll have the Rawley cops circling the Char Grill like buzzards circling a 3 day old summer road kill . . . or does that just happen when the FD Cowboy shows up?
Had a chance to think about doing anymore on the website? I've visited the British Motor Car Club of the Cape Fear, www.bmccf.org, and the more I think about what we can do with it the better I like it.

Did you see that Phil Sohn is gonna be in Durham in December? if I remember, he is flying in on 12/16. And that brings up our December event, Holiday Laps at VIR, heard anything about the date for the laps yet?

The gun is loaded, all we have to do is 'pull the trigger', so to speak.

Sorry I missed the Wilmington run, but we had 3 FDs at Rockingham (NC Speedway) today with the THSCC driving school! My first time on this track, and the first time for my car in almost a year (and since the engine rebuild). Still have a few details to work out, but the cooling system is doing it's job, the brakes are awesome, the engine pulls like a sumabitch, and the suspension is just about as good as it gets for a street/track car. Just need to raise the car a smidge to clear my track tires and it will be all good.
My novice student is a student from Chapel Hill, driving a MB 93 Touring model - stock except for a PF intercooler and exhaust. We did find out that Hawk HPS's are not adequate, even for a first-timer in these cars - he was getting pad fade by the end of a 20 min session. There's another novice driving a black FD there in similar trim. Both are driving very well, and the cars look awesome doing 100+ on the Nascar banking.

Somebody buy this car before I do:

It's a great condition 85. I wish I had the cash (and room) to buy it myself.

Sorry you missed the drive down to the Brits and Battleship car show, check the thread out to see what you missed, https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...3&page=2&pp=10
Also the RRDI was well represented in attendance and we wore our colors, the shirts' first outing. Here are Gary and Eric, our T-shirt models:
We already have several guys wanting to order more shirts and some of the ladies are asking about Polo shirts. Also some want the static window stickers for our cars. I'll handle shirts if someone wants to take on the static sticker display.

13-Hours @ VIR is over...
And now we are recovering.
It was great! We finished first in class (and last ) since we were the only IT7 car.
Thanks to our crew: Natasha Euliss-Uftring (my wife), Bill Rankin, Ken West, skinny Ken, Ed Wentz, Joedy Pennington, and Brian Hooper.
The Divers: Heather Powers, Bill Foster, John Uftring
The car ran very well, except for a bad case of vapor lock during one of my afternoon stints, and a little bit of "no brakes" when Heather Powers went out after my first night stint. I told her that the brakes were a little spongy and that I needed an extra pump at the end of the back straight, but no biggie. Well, after the pit stop I guess they heat soaked a little and she had no brakes going into T1 and she had to spin to lose some speed. When she came in, he comment to me was, "Spongy brakes my @$$!" But after that the brakes were fine.
During one of my day-time stints Natasha came on the radio and mentioned that they had me on the watch at 2:30.xxx. That's still slow for IT7, but my best time at VIR. For the most part Heather and I were consistently turning 2:31s and 2:32s. During my second night stint going to the checker, Mike (our refueler and radio guy) let me know I was turning consistent 2:33s. What a blast. Driving at night rocks!
The only "Big Drama" happened during Bill Fosters first night stint when he had contact with another car at the start of the climbing esses. The contact caused the left front tire to break the bead and he went off into the field on drivers left and drove it up to T10. He came in on a wrecker, we changed the tire and sent him back out. Luckily all that was damaged was the wheel.
It was also great to be running with and out-running other cars. At one point during the race I actually bumped a Spec Miata on the back straight to let him know I was there and was going to go by. He was basically staying in front of me when I moved one way he moved in front of me. As it turns out we knew the driver and when he came by the paddock after the race I asked him if it was him in the car when I bumped the car and he said yes. He also said the engine was basically used up, and the car was slow.
Lots of fun, and definitely a blast. We'll be back next year for sure.

Well, David pulled out this morning for a 6 month deployment. I don't think I have any more tears left. I've cried my eyes out all day off and on. He drove us up to Norfolk in the wee hours last night, and I got back here in my car around 3:30AM. He had to leave the SRT-4 at my house... so I'll be car-sitting for the next 6 months.
The car interior smells like him.
Oh. and he transferred all the pix he took at VIR the other weekend onto my computer, so I'll post those online later. I have one of me violating Tiffany.
Newho... I'm glad there's going to be a meet this weekend. I'm gonna need to keep busy so I don't get too lonely. At least I have Lindsay and Phoenix in the yard to play with.
I miss my David.
