Like modding a car, tracking it ain't cheap. But is so much more fun. Its car crack.

Just watching and hearing the instructor and advanced HPDE sessions can get the adrenaline going. I can't explain the feeling of the Gs coming around the banking at Roackingham, thundering down the straight deep in triple digits, stomping the brakes and setting up to go to battle in the infield. The infield is what separates the drivers. Its where there is most to learn about driving smooth and fast.
I hope one of these days us NC Mazda folks will be at the point of being able to organzize our own track days.

Back in town now the week's vacation is over. Glad to be home. Now to get back in the touch and find out what went on last week. I haven't seen an email from the printer on the shirts but should pick them up this week and will definitely have them at the next RRDI for distribution and to collect any outstanding payments.
Johny great news on getting the mansion, we do need a strong turnout for the next Deals Gap Rally to fill up the mansion. The Fontana Village room rate per night was between $75 - $90 depending on where you stayed. This is a much better location and will be so much nicer, we can cook and grill out there and should be able to eat much better and much cheaper. THIS PLACE DOES HAVE A HOT TUB, RIGHT? :0)
We got work to do to plan for the two or three night stay depending on when you want to leave. I'll ask Greg to create a place on the current RRDI website so that we can volunteer and sign up for stuff that will need to be done before and during the Rotary Weekend at Deals Gap in April. This is gonna be a huge rotary event and no one has an excuse to miss this one.

Johny the mansion looks awesome, however its kind out of the price range for some of us. I'm mainly speaking for "the leverett boys". Last time we all stayed in one room so we split cost of staying the two night betwen the four of us. It would be awesome to stay in the mansion with all of you guys but for all of us, cash is something we dont have a lot of. I think we will probably end up just renting another hotel room because it will be so much cheaper.

Brits and Battleship Car Show in Wilmington
Hey guys, just heard from Dave Sorensen of the British Motor Car Club of the Cape Fear on the Car Show in Wilmington, he welcomes us down for the show. He has invited any that want to enter the show to let them know and if they get enough rotary entries might get a special classification for our cars. Their website is http://www.bmccf.org/ with links for the car show info and other interesting info about their club. Johny should bring Tiffany down, Greg should get the TII shined up, Keith should bring your vert along, Josh could show your FD, and we have several FBs that would do well representing the first gens.
The guy sounded really glad to have another sports car enthusiasts' group to join the fun. It will be at the USS North Carolina Memorial parking lot and he said they have muscle cars, other sports cars in the show as well as British cars. Sounds like a great time and some interesting cars to look at.
We can do this as the November weekend drive, we'll drive back that evening or anyone that wants to stay overnight can do that in Wilmington or go on out to Morehead City and stay on the beach.
All downeast guys, you're invited to meet us in Wilmington or somewhere between Raleigh and Wilmington along I-40 to join the rotary caravan.

Yeah, I didn't think about that... I mean, it's not too bad if it's just me. What about the people who are bringing friends/significant others? I mean, they've gotta pay that much per person. I know the mansion is expensive, but damn. Maybe if we can get enough people to come, the price will be cheaper.

Hi all you realize that it is a 2 hour drive from the battleship to Moorhead City. We do have beaches here in Wilmington that are closer than 2 hrs. away.
I will try to meet up with whoever makes it down for this event since I live in the Wilmington area.
If you were at the RBQ last weekend I was there I rode up with Ashraf to VIR after driving to Raleigh. I was about the only guy with really long hair in the back. I am a NCMAZDA group member and usualy don't post much on this site I mostly sell 2nd gen parts on all the RX-7 forums by responding to wanted ads via private message. so if you are in need of anything for your 2nd gen PM me and I will see if I have it in stock. I currently own 14 2nd gens. Jonny I was the guy who talked to you about your idiot light surround I will check on that today.

Ashraf has put up some photos from the RBQ at:

If you were watching the last race (with 88 cars taking the green flag) the #14 white SRX7 disappeared around lap 12. Here is a few pix of the resulting impact with the tire wall at the exit of turn 5...
We made repairs Saturday night and ran two more races on Sunday.

Hmmm, if I can consistently set aside $5 to $10 a week, then I should be set.
If I can consistently set aside $15 a week, then I might even be able to bring my wife
But then, consistently setting aside money is easier said than done.
