If you don't want big numbers than stay away from the turbos you listed. Yeah the name sounds impressive but it is not what it sounds like you want. a 60-1 is all you need to have a very quick FD right around 400 rwhp. Mine is at 15psi and it gets with it pretty good if I do say so myself.
The turbos T88 and T70 will have too much lag for you IMO. This is like everyone that puts the BW S475 turbo on a stock port and only run 10 PSI. It's just not the correct turbo for the job. I have 10+ PSI by 3200 rpm and asteady 15 from there up to redline. This is the Perfect turbo for a street driven and in my case track day/street FD. Especially if you plan on only running around 10-15 psi of boost.
If you go single you will have to go with a engine managment of some sort and the needed fuel mods. Leave the SAFC at the store. Useless on the FD IMO.

Yeah, +1 on Dave
Pretty much a GT35R or similar will be a perfect street/track setup with minimal lag and around 400hp on stock to moderate boost level on pump. PowerFC or fuel computer management of some sort, upgraded secondaries injectors, fuel pump, then intercooler like the M2 style SMIC works good, and would upgrade the oil cooler as well if you have a touring or base model. I have helped a few buddies with their single/engine swaps and also my own. Let us know if you need help as most of use have gone down these paths of never ending money pits =)
Now I have a 13b NA, carbed, problem solved, no more headaches...

Its funny a lot of people say that you HAVE to get fuel computer management like the power FC but i cant say i agree.I had a 1987 rx7 T2 and i put a T70 on it @ 12psi with little to no lag and stock injectors 550cc with only a Apexi SAFC (the old 5 **** type) and i put about 60k miles on it and i never had any problems then sold it to a guy in Jasper GA and he ran it for 2years before it blew a apexi seal.Note...i ran that car hard!!!!!!I just don't see the point of spending 1500 dollars on a fuel computer management if your not looking for big numbers. this is my old T2 http://www.flickr.com/photos/6450558...ream/lightbox/

You are correct, you don't "have to", but It is very much advised. It is not just a fad to have the managment system. It allows you to adjust all the parameters of the engine. Instead of just a fuel correction of a few % points. By all means do as you wish to be different. But to me, not taking full advantage of your components just makes no sense at all. But it is your money, do as you wish.
If you just want less hassle with the turbo system, why not just simplify the system by running it non-sequential? That will knock the amount of rats nest down to just a few hoses for the emissions crap if you need it in Ga. Only line you need off the turbo is for wastegate control. Throw a BC on it and turn it up as you wish.
BTW: PFC's with commanders can be had for less than 750 bucks. I agree there is NO WAY I would spend 1500 on it. Especially when they are abundant for far less.

i would never go non-sequential unless your stock seq. turbo setup is not functioning properly or lacking the knowledge of troubleshoot the issue. Stock seq. in its full working form will be most fun to drive on the street if you are only looking at low numbers, around 300-350whp is more than enough for the 2800 lb FD. Of course, if you are going thru the trouble to remove the turbos and remove emission, ratsnest and such to convert to non-seq/, at that point, you might as well consider a simple single turbo setup. However, neither of them will pass emission....
Fuel computer is a must for these cars if you wanna do more then the 3 mods rule, or else risking the engine, as the 20 yr old stock computer is far from adequate once your give it more air and boost, a cheap insurance nontheless IMO.

I have seen a few RX7 guys around, I know you're there! But we don't get to many of you guys out to our meets! So please, join the Atlanta Mazda Owners Club on facebook!
We hold events semi often (been slow since it's been cold), and are planning out a cookout come spring/summer.
Also I have just finished designing a tshirt, and will have those for sale. So please, join the facebook group and come out some time!
