project=A.D.D. I'll drive it,....some day!
I've wanting to start a thread about my build for a while now, but I know that such a thing calls for action. Action on a regular basis, even. That's where the title comes in. I'm all over the place with this build. One week I may decide to pull the suspension out. Then two months later, I'm building a custom steering wheel mount for a vintage british steering wheel. The ideas for my design change with the weather. This isn't a "pimp my ride" build. I take a good bit of time to cycle through ideas and do most of the work, myself. I'm in no rush, and thought it necessary to have my thread here, in a regional forum, rather than in the general 1g forum. I do not have an infinite knowledge of rotaries and would LOVE, and welcome any, knowledge, or experience based help/criticism. With that said, enjoy! I will, if I can remember.

Quick rundown,
I've been working, off and on, on my project for about 5 years now. It's an 85 GSL that I bought for $800 It only had 67k, but it wasn't running at the time. The guy that I bought it from had tried to eliminate the rats nest and couldn't keep the car running. I bought it and had it towed to a friend's shop, where the motor came out and was sent to a friend in SC for the rebuild, while the car was being painted. The motor has an aggressive streetport with 3rd gen corner seal springs. The irons were powdercoated in reflective chrome with a translucent red overlay, while the housings were done in reflective chrome only. It gives the "look" of polished aluminum.
Motor 12a
Rb intake
Holley 600 single feed (I'm told that it needs to be modified to run with a turbo setup?)
Aluminum carb hat
2.5" piping
Garret (air research) a/r. 42 intake and 48 exhaust int. wastegate
aluminum dist. block mounted under oil filter
an-4 oil feed and an-10 drain into front cover
Ugly homemade stainless manifold (new replacement in the works)
3"x12"x30" intercooler
Turboxs bov
Aeromotive rising rate fpr
Holley blue pump
griffin 3" aluminum radiator
Gilmer drive pulleys
Tweakit lightweight steel flywheel
RB s/s clutch and pp
Short shifter
Ignition is non existent right now
Thinking of running an MSD 6al with dirct fire setup?
This is where I am right now in my build. The rear end in the pics above is out of a gsl-se parts car, that probably shouldn't have been pulled 150 miles on those tires. I'm about half of the way through the suspension swap. I've taken apart the rear for paint, seals and bearings.
It's nasty on the outside, but it's nice and tight on the inside. The huge wrench was my battering ram that I used to knock the shafts out of the housing. I'll be running Tokico blues, Koni, rally sport springs, front and rear sway bars w/adjustable end links in the rear.

Looks good
The carb would have to be prepped for turbo. I have no clue on holley's, I tend to stay away from them, personal preference. Not sure how far away Augusta is from the OGTA meets, but they are great guys with tons of knowledge spread between them! If I am ever down in the area I wouldn't mind swingin by and checking it out. Never hurts to have an extra set of hands either!
Also, running a 6al on the leading will not limit the trailing spark. I have a 6A and removed my trailing, just need to get the MSD limiter box and a chip for it.

So, the 6al is a safe bet, then? I see them used so much in rotary builds.

So, the warm weather has pulled me out of hibernation. I'm ready to get some work done and get this thing back on the ground!! I've spent the last couple of afternoons, pulling the 4 link rods out and prepping them for paint along with the Koni front and rear sway bars and springs. The front sway bar is 1 1/8" thick, while the rear is probably the same size as the stock bar, but has adjustable end links. Hopefully it doesn't rain all weekend. I'd like to get some etching primer on this stuff
Another thing that I've been working on, is the air inlet for the turbo. It's not at all a necessary part, just an idea that I put together. I added a mesh filter to keep anything from being sucked in and causing damage. The filter is dressed up with stainless hex bolts that match the housing.
