Yeah i figured i would make an appearence every so often,...kinda like herpes!!
No DGRR for me. Nice pic from a couple years back at least. Back when i had three running rx7's. Unlike my current situation. Fighting a spark issue with the FD now. Sparks at initial cranking of the engine, then no spark after a couple rotations. Working on it this weekend.

Big nasty is running again!! Bad ignition amplifier was the culprit of spark issues, broken Crank angle sensor wires were the stumble issue, and a broken TPS wire inside the connector( probably caused from troubleshooting) kept it from revving once it started.. Fairly succesfull saturday morning.
Next project is the FC, anybody know where to order mikuni sidedraft carb gaskets from? I need a float bowl gasket.
Dave

Sorry Ray, i have a personal objection to paying someone to hang out on public roads. If he could provide me a track or something i would be all over it. I dont have to pay for OGTA meets as far as i know of. It has never made sense to me that people pay him money for something he cannot keep you/me from doing anyways. Not trying to start a debate, just a personal objection.
I hear you Dave.
So why don't you just come up and hang out at the Cabin?
Last I heard the roads up there are still free. It's not like we need to crash the party or anything (hint, hint)
Then, if we have a good time, we can send the DGRR guys a tip.

Anybody know if a 1980 front enginebay wire harness will work with a 1981? There is one at pull a part here in charlotte. I need a front harness for my crispy restoration of the FB.

It won't without a fair amount of work. The '80 had external ignitors, different distributor, big differences in emissions, etc. You would be best getting one from an '81. If you can't get an '81, you should first try for an early FB model ('81-'83) and if that doesn't work, go for an '84-'85. For the most part, the FB ('81-'85) are similar, but the later years tend to have more emissions stuff, but you can always de-pin the extra wires.
If you were going the other direction, I would say to go for it. The '80 is unique, so it can be difficult to find '80-specific parts (such as the remote ignitors or the wiring harness). If you had an '80, you might have to make something work with an FB harness as there are many more of those floating around.
With the FBs being so much more common, I would hold out for an '81 (or later) harness.

Ray quite picking on the newbs in the 1st gen sections. They're getting all butt hurt from it.
I'm doing DGRR, so thinking about skipping the Mitty this year <gasp>!. Thats right I said
skipping, I can only make so much beer. Besides I need that week to recover from DGRR I
suspect.
Dave good to hear from you. You should come out to the next Charlotte Cars & Coffee, 1st
saturday of the month early in the am. Its a blast. I've been going and met a bunch of rotor
heads (mostly FD and RX8 folks). They gaze in wonder at a 1st gen!

Tim, if you can make the Mitty after a weekend of DGRR, I'll buy the beer.
Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with the 1st gen newbie's these days, a lot of them seem to be suffering from inflamed sphincters.
