Pics are on my cell, trying to load them.
I think the return line is the one that burst just because it was still running even when on fire. So it was still getting fuel into the carb. Who know's. Too crispy to tell anything now.Haha!
Going to pick it up tomorrow sometime. Hopefully the bears don't strip it of what's left overnight.

I did have a filter in there but it was not leaking, and was less than 1k old. Unlikely it was the cause, but anything is possible. **** happens. And this is only wires and paint and a few hard parts to replace and it's back to rockin.
here are some pics. The only 3 I snapped before phone went dead. No flames to show.Sorry, I was preoccupied at the time.

Damn Dave, that sucks. Make sure to check Rock Auto for the parts. They are moving allot of stuff on the cheap lately.
And Ray, nothing wrong with a filter in the bar. Been doing it for years.

It's all Stu's fault!!
I think that the return line burst and started spraying volital fluids around the enginebay until they hit something hot. Once we stopped moving and the airflow stopped, it showed it's very earily beutiful face( Fire is actually very fun to watch how it woks)
The good in the bad situation is that A) Stu and I are OK.B) I get to rebuild it again and make it better once more. Kinda the six million dollar FB mini series. No cool sound effects though.

Yeah, that was an interesting mountain trip
Hope your hand isn't too blistery man. That fire got put out quick for what we had at hand.
That's what I get for trying to keep up with a hella boosted FD!
I'm still thinking sticking with the original Mazda-Engineer-Approved (MEA) fuel lines (without the filter) might perhaps be a good idea in order to reduce the admittedly rather low incidence of engine bay fires. Course I am a stock kind of guy.
Collin, make sure your new Pulsation Damper (PD) is Mazda Approved.
Excellent use of the Gatorade cooler! Wish I had the video!
Reminds me of the time my MGB caught fire....

That sucks Dave, but, you guys are at least OK. Looks like a good bit of work, but nothing doable.
I'm happy our trip to the mountains today didn't have any drama like that .

Small turn out, but was a good time.
