October meet SCRX-7
Eagle Point, behind the Toys-R-Us and the old dollar theater. More North Chuck, but technically Hanahan.
Is this the Navy guy I met through Derek, that I sold a FC spare wheel to? (sorry, forgot name, horrible with names)
Hoping to get the 'vert running on my holiday. Last time I drove it, when boost kicked in the pass. fender flew off - trying to avoid a repeat of that.
In organizing my garage (I can almost see from one end to another now) I found a second rotary engine stand adapter. Steel, on the plate/tube from the stand. Anyone want it? I'll let it go cheep/ barter since I need it not. Hell, if someone is willing to trade a few hours swapping struts/springs/helping bolt down the fenders on the 'vert I'd do that.

I guess I am gonna have to quit messin around and get to one of these meets with you guys.
I hate to see all those rotaries lined up together and no FB in there. I need to represent for the 1st gen!!

you missed out - I dumped all the parts from my track 1st gen before we moved down here. I don't think I've got anything left... maybe a spare AL wheel in 4-lug for an -SE, and one of my race wheels for the -SE
Had all the parts to do a DIY rack and pinion conversion too. (sigh).
Earlier this year I rebuilt a really nice 82 RX-7 in NC. Had a Holley carb kit on it, and the OMP rod and lines were removed/plugged... the rotor housings were amazingly bad. One had no chrome inside *at all*. Gave the guy a street port, AL flywheel, 85 rotors/counterweights, and rotary aviation seal kit (using stock apex seals). Very pristine car, and it turned out really nice (and I replaced all the OMP hardware). Had to send it to someone else though to tune the damn carb.
I'm sure I've got some spares sitting around that I don't need for the FC as well. I know, for instance, that I have 3 or 4 throttle bodies. And a milling machine to cut out all the restrictions.
Now I just need a MIG/TIG welder - I've got some exhaust work to do, and need to make a front end for my half-a-seven trailer.

what is a "turbotrailer"
do you port throttle bodies?? i took a dremel to mine, it looks like crap though heheh

I had picked up a 90ish T2 chassis for free, maybe around 2000. Completely stripped, just a roller. No title. So I cut it in half (that was fun), put spare rear suspension parts on it (basically subframe, trailing arms, hubs, and bearings), and welded up a trailer tongue that bolts behind where the rear seats would be and to the front diff mount point on the subframe. Welded stabilizers into the rocker rails. Weighs *maybe* 200 pounds as is.
I need to build a front for it, and finish the trailer wiring to the taillights. As is, it tows pretty awesomely (85mph down here from Durham behind my jeep, no problems) and the lights more or less work. Plan for it to be a tire/tool trailer to pull behind the 'vert and be a conversation piece. Not sure on AL or fiber for the front yet. Probably will do a lower pan out of AL, and make the rest out of fiber. Maybe I can find a small hatchback glass that would work so I could actually see through it (it still has the rear hatch; I cut it at the back of the sunroof hole more or less).
Neat project, when I had time to fool with it. Priority is getting the turbovert bodyworked, primed, and painted which may happen over winter break. Turbotrailer might wait until the summer or next winter if I intern somewhere.

My turbovert is mostly stock engine-wise and I plan to keep it that way so I don't need to fool with stuff like that. I'm happy with 230ish HP in a 'vert.
My other FC engine is modded to use an FD intake manifold and TB, which has greater airflow. Still, the inside of the FD TB is ugly airflow-wise after you remove the double throttle plates and shaft - I suppose I will clean it up before I put that motor in a car.

MIKE!!! Good to see you around, man! I'm working on a turbo swap for my vert as well. Just need a few relatively small things (throttle cable, injector spacers, oil feed line for the turbo) and I can get it in there.
I was going to keep it stock, but I just picked up a manifold (looks just like the HKS one but it's SS not cast.) and wastegate for $50. Now I just need a turbo to put on it.
Jamin, I might try to get out there this weekend if I can talk Bryan into it. I'm up in the air about the B3R meet. Cash is pretty scarce around here, especially since I've had a few people continually flake on me about buying parts. Sigh.

I have a stock S5 oil feed and injector spacers for my T2 beast engine if you want them. Just replace them for me eventually
No throttle cable. I had a hell of a time getting a working one from my 4 T2 parts cars (which are now gone boohoo). I think vic brit is the best 2nd choice to get one this century.
if you need a standard T4 flange turbo i can give ashraf a call and see what he has spare.

spare is a relative term. What are you looking for?
Before you answer, bear in mind that I condensed from a 2-bay shop with 11 parts cars down to a 1-car garage with 1.5 RX7s when I moved down here. I have a *lot* of parts but what I need to keep and what I can spare are still resting unknown and unloved in dozens of boxes.

Mike, I'm thinking that the S5 line will fit, so I'd like to get that and the spacers. I'm supposed to be in Charleston this weekend to get the rear end from Jamin's old car. Maybe we can catch up and say hi and I can get those parts from you?
Also, definitely see what he has available. In the short term I'm going to run the stock turbo ECU but will be going either Haltech or Rtek

Had all the parts to do a DIY rack and pinion conversion too. (sigh).Nice car I got, real clean, and RB exhaust really opened her up! Anyway, 161,xxx original, soon will be time to rebuild(heh, heh, UPGRADE, heh, heh) and it looks so expensive to rebuild with power adder of any sort. WTF??
I need streetport rebuild for good price. I hate to rip the soul out of this car, but I can v8 swap for 2/3 or less the price than repowering this car. I hate that!!
I am now rotor head, but the prices for re=powering this B$$%% are really bothering me!!
What to do?
If your car is a 12A, the best option is to put a 13B in there - 12A hard parts (rotors, housings) aren't available from Mazda anymore. If it's a 13B already, upgrading to the 89-91 style brings 25 more HP by itself; porting will do more. A decent core motor can be had for $500ish (I mean one that runs) and the rotary aviation kit another $500. Tell me you can get the granny's kit and a rebuilt V8 for $1000.
Congrats on the 10AE.
For those who came over Saturday, thanks, and nice meeting everyone... nice to see there are some rotorheads down here. You get used to a nice big club (I think we had about 20 regulars and 60ish members in NC at one point of time) even though most of them have defected to the Miata camp.
And no, Reese, the seat isn't for sale now either.

Some things get better with age.
I know right now, until my wife's situation is settled, our eating out/fun budget is pretty minimal. Even with less than $3/gallon gas
