North GA Rotary Meet & Drive- BBITS, brought to you by the OGTA
BBITS: Brett's Bash in the Sticks
I'm finally getting on top of planning this meet, after months of talking about it. I just picked up the 3rd block for the FC, so hopefully it should be running fine enough for us to celebrate
What: I just got my first place, and I'm wanting to pack my front yard with rotaries, cook up some good food, have everyone chill out, and go out to drive around the mountains around the evening...
Where: My house in Dahlonega. It's about an hour north of Atlanta and 20 minutes west of Gainesville.
Address:
260 Pine Tree Lane
Dahlonega, GA 30533
Link to Google maps
With some help from the Old Guys, here is a route we mapped out for the evening drive.
My house is just about where the 115 circle is on the lower center of the above map, so we'll really be starting from my place and taking 52 into Dahlonega. Since I accidentally posted this thread as I was just starting it, I don't have time to re-do the map
When: Saturday, July 31st, from ~11 AM to ~6 PM
Food: I'll cover the 'minor' drinks and hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments. Since I'm only 19, I don't know how the booze situation will work out... I'll have to consult and elder about that.

Shade: If anyone has a canopy or tent, that might be nice since I don't have a whole lot of shade around the house.
Grill: If someone has an extra charcoal grill we could use in addition to my small one, that'd be greatly appreciated.
So if you could, lets start a list of who's planning to attend and if you'd like to contribute anything.
July 31 BBITS:
-Brett- Coke, Dr. Pepper, Mt. Dew, water, hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments, charcoal

I tried packing everything into that before the 30 min timeout, but if there's something missing let me know.
I've consulted an elder... BYOB!
Note for Google maps: There isn't an Advance Auto nor an American Legion on my street. Those are off of Pine Tree Dr closer to Dahlonega square. Hope no one got their hopes up
And Holly (or was it Dena?), if you're able to make it out, that baked potato salad at the Lake house meet was awesome...
The front yard should have plenty enough parking... Disregard the boinger.
And we've got a dog, as well as a good-sized pen, so if you've got a dog feel free to bring them on out.

I wouldn't go promoting the bringing your dog thing.. For the simple fact that if someone were to disagree over a milkbone, vet bills get pretty pricey very quickly.
Yard? Pfft, I'm parking in the driveway! Perks of being your buddy for, oh, YEARS...

Brett, that was Dena that made the Baked Potato Salad. Oh, and you might want to think about BYOB. You say there is driving and you are underage for drinking. I would suggest you say no alcohol.
I have an EZ up canopy I will bring out for shade.
Let me think about what dish I will make.

Sounds good, Collin. I love me some guacamole.
I guess I should have thought that not all dogs are as nice as my Maggie. So scratch that, she'll enjoy the attention
Holly, as far as alcohol goes, I really didn't think much about that. But you're right, it would be stupid to drink before hitting the curves. Plus everyone's still got to drive home...
I'm new at this, what can I say So no booze and no pets. Unless someone has a sweet iguana like at that one Japanese meet.

This sounds like fun.
I am planning to come, but it will depend on how Michelle is doing.
I have a canopy. You are welcome to use it even if I cannot make it. We can work out getting it to you. I'll bring a food item. I'll sign up for something as it gets a little closer and we know what we need.

Ray, sounds great If you really brought a goat, that would be about the craziest rotary meet known to man.
Mike, thanks for offering your canopy even if you couldn't make it. I wish the best for your wife and hope everything works out, but if not that's completely understandable.
I've been contemplating to shorten the route that Mike and I mapped out. I got to thinking after I posted it up, it's a 3-4 hour drive, and I don't think everyone would be too cool with that. How about a 1-2 hour drive, instead? We can just head West at Turners Corner instead of doing the '8', or if people wanted more time out we could turn there around and drive home back the way we came, adding another 30-45 mins to the trip. Anywho, we'll figure out what's best for that day. There's plenty of ways we can go around the mountains
