Inbound to NC

Hey everyone, I will be moving up to NC this upcoming summer. As you can probably tell, I'm military. I will be at Cherry Point.

I have an FD that I plan on bringing with me. I noticed that there aren't that many posts about anything in that area also. I'm assuming that everyone just ends up at the Lejeune meet?

Coming from SoCal, I drive my car alot. I used to daily drive my Half-bridge everyday but now I drive it every other day. Anyways, what kind of atmosphere will I be coming to? What I mean is, how are laws towards our cars and what do you suggest?

My wife mentioned to me that there aren't any smog tests there? If so, that is already a plus, I hate California emissions. I've heard of the famous Deals Gap Run. Basically, I'm trying to look at the positive side of this pcs..lol.

I hope to get some feedback on this post, positive or negative. Feedback is feedback.

Here are some videos and stuff to make this post more entertaining..

Check these guys out:

Also, California is nice, but all things considered I'd rather live in the South East, more rain and greenery, fewer fires, mudslides and earthquakes (not to mention a much lower cost of living).

And there is a great rotary community.

Whats up man. Im at Camp Lejeune, about 45 minutes from Cherry Point. Ive only been here for 7 months but I havent been bothered by law enforcement at all, the occasional dirty look from MP's rolling through the gate in my 94. We should meet up, Id love to check your ride out in person as mine is *mostly stock. There are a couple others near me but I can't seem to find them.

Thanks man, I will keep an eye out for this when I arrive. I know its early still, but I would rather build a rapport with everyone before I get there.

@goalguy02: Yeah man, that really makes this move alot easier for me. Knowing that I wont get bothered for having my beast on the road is a plus. Yeah, for sure; I'm all about meets and cruises, track days, etc..

If you get your car register here the only inspection you would do is a safety inspection. Its consist of: tires, brakes, not cracked windows, lights, and a CAT. NO EMISSION TEST.

Well come to north carolina!

I don't even have a CAT on my car. I just have to have a muffler to pass safety.

I'm getting there sometime next summer. I'm wondering if I will need a re-tune. My car is tuned for SD elevation, which is literally sea level..

It's insane hot with humidity in the mid summer and the winter isn't too bad. Expect 85-105F in summer, 60-95F fall, 15-70F winter, and 30-85F spring. It varies from year to year and day to day but it's really not too bad. I mean it just snowed here for two days and now it's 55F outside, and 62 projected for tomorrow. The weather is goofy here but it's pretty cool. You should be ok with your tune.

Thanks man, that is alot of good information. It's kind of like new mexico weather wise minus the humidity. I have been looking at alot of houses, There are alot of good ones for good prices. As long as I have a garage, im good..
