I'm selling it with the custom twins... and the wheels, ECU, all that stuff. I hate to see it go. However, as I was feverishly stripping the engine bay to prep for swapping the motor tonight, I think I realized that I enjoy working on the car more than I do driving it. Lol.

Steve Stover drives a Montego. Been around town for 4-5 years atleast. Has 99 twins on it. You can spot his as it has same wheels as mine, SSR comps! Not sure who the kid is in the red 3rd gen. I know of 2 kids that are new owners to red 3rd gens but I thought both were down with bad motors..

Don, PM me. I think I am going to pull my motor in the next few weeks. Anyone have a puller I can use? If not no big deal I will just rent one.

Jeb, did you pull motor with tranny in one or separate? How long should I exspect it to take me? I am pretty handy at this kind of stuff... Any pointers? Seems you have done this a few times..

I have an engine hoist and a stand, but I don't have the adapter to hold a rotary engine. I think Pineapple Racing sells them.

The first time I did the motor since I was swapping the trans too I did the two of them. I am about to find out how hard it is to pull it without the trans attached. I expect it to take me about two hours to get it out, and probably about three to get it in. Then again there's not much in my engine bay to worry about. Just make sure you release the clutch properly or you'll break the ring, and make sure you get all the trans bolts. If you are doing it with the transmission installed you may want to unbolt and remove the brake booster vacuum hardline -- the oil filter/pedestal will catch on it on the way out. Make sure you have a hoist that has lots of elevation and plenty of ground clearance for the car, because the transmission is long and you will have to pivot it way back to get it out. You are also going to be removing the PPF and driveshaft to get the engine out with the trans, so if you don't have a reason to pull the trans, I would say leave it in. If you'd like to help out with my pull I'd be delighted, and you could learn something too... unfortunately I am working in a very small garage, so that adds to the challenge.

When will you begin working on it? I would like to check it out to learn more.

Well, if it's not rainning, I have to do a little yard work tomorrow afternoon, so I can swing by afterwards.

Mike, my buddy with the red 3rd gen that I've talked to you about finally got his working. It ended up being his main relay. Probably felt dumb after saying he checked everything.

Well sure enough, I pulled the turbos off and found metal shards and bits of apex seal in the rear runner. Fortunately they didn't make it up into the turbo -- the turbine looks good.

Well, the new motor is in. I'll probably start it tonight. Not half bad for only five days of working evenings with no help.

I really wanted to check out the entire process, but I've had so much going on I'm about ready to crack. Too much drama in such a short duration.
