I'm sorry with all the posts and PMs I just overlooked that post. Yes that is good, I'll work with the colors and get it to Johny to get a quote and some directional signs made for the rally. Thanks for your help, I appreciate you taking this on for us.

Just drive toward Durham and watch for the Palm Trees, clean white sand beaches, and clear blue water. Bahama is north and a little east of Durham. I'm gonna drive out there this weekend to find the best way from Hwy 501 and also from I-85. I will post drinving directions and a map this weekend. If you can make it up we'll get you there.

Just read this thread, most of your questions will be answered. Bahama is a small community north and a little east of Durham. Where are you located in NC?

Doesn't that girl ever get tired?

Ok, I'm in. Just confirmed I can get the day off. Is this pay at the door or do we need to send the money upfront?

Money up front will help the guys defray some of the initial out of pocket expense but I think most people will be paying upon arrival. If you want to pay in advance you can mail me a check or $10 cash and I'll email you back a receipt and ticket. Otherwise just hold your money until you arrive.

Glad you're gonna be able to make it Greg.

Yeah, I'll be posting a formal notice later this afternoon. I'm driving out to Dave's to nail down driving directions but everyone will access the rally from either I-85 north of Durham or using Hwy 501 going north from Durham to Roxboro or coming south from the Danville, Va. I'll post specifics later and also going to find how many directional signs we need for key intersections.

I have gotten several PMs from guys and I am expecting 25+ people for this first event. I'll send you the info I get for the guys from Jacksonville and Cherry Point and Wilmington as I receive it.

So is any kind of a caravan from raleigh planned? Or is that just too much chaos to try.

Is there a breakdown of events and times? are you cooking out for dinner, or what? I might be up for a drive and to see some other rotaries in the area. It's hard for me to plan things like this, as I only have 2 seats and 3 rear ends to plant.

I'm planning to come up Friday and stay 2 nights. Any ideas where most of the paricipants are staying and where? Maybe we can get together.

Driving Directions to the GRR of NC

I drove out to the GRR location on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the drive to I-85 and then from 85 up to Farlow Farms. See the attachment below for directions. Travel times will vary depending on time of day and highway construction in progress. I-40 between Raleigh and Dueham is not a good route anytime due to road construction and exit closing along this stretch of I-40. Road and traffic conditions on Highway 70 to Durham from Raleigh are much better. There will be directional signs at the critical intersections off of I-85, Hwy 501, and at the Hwy 96/98 intersection.

If anyone has any questions please PM me.

Ryan had earlier volunteered to meet anyone that wanted to caravan from Raleigh. I'll ask him or someone else to follow up and lead a caravan if there is interest. I'd suggest meeting at Briar Creek or the Walmart parking lot, off Hwy 70, so that people don't have to come into Raleigh and then fight the traffic to get out again.

Good news, NC State is Playing Florida State on Thursday, 11/11, so no football game that weekend.

Right now still working on the drives and other events. Will post the schedule for these later. We will be cooking for dinner, hamburgers and hotdogs, fixins, potato salad, beans, etc. Old fashion Fried Apple Pies for dessert. We will be photographing all cars and drivers and may even try to do a GRR calendar for 2005 if there is interest. We will have a couple of drives mapped out thru rural Durham and Person counties.

What about any nightime cruise strips? After the event is there any kind of night time activities that we can over run with 7's?

It is about 12 miles north of Durham off of Hwy 501. Nice rural, rolling country over there. Come on over and enjoy the gathering.
